Fluka 150 mg is a prescription medicine for the single-dose treatment of vaginal candidiasis and is clinically approved to cure most vaginal yeast infections. It contains Fluconazole 150mg as the main active component, which belongs to a class of drugs known as antifungals. It effectively treats infections caused by fungi and may help prevent candida infections. The most common cause of a fungal infection is a yeast called Candida. Your doctor might prescribe you a Fluka 150 mg tablet to treat the following types of fungal infections:

‒   Coccidioidomycosis is a disease affecting the bronchopulmonary system, including the brain.

‒   Cryptococcal meningitis is a fungal infection of the central nervous system, specifically the brain and spinal cord.

‒   Candida causes fungal infections and can be found in the bloodstream, heart, lungs, or urinary tract.

‒   Genital thrush - infections of the vagina and penis

‒   Mucosal thrush - a type of infection that affects the lining of the mouth, throat, and denture, causing a sore mouth.

‒   Skin infections - include ringworm, athlete’s foot, jock itch, and nail infection.

‒   The antifungal agent is equally effective in preventing these infections from recurring.

How to use a Fluconazole tablet?

Diflucan and Fluka 150 mg uses: This medicine is intended for oral administration to treat fungal infections of the mouth, throat, vagina, and other parts of the body, including fingernails and toenails. Take the medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. The tablet must be swallowed whole with a glass of water. You can take Fluka 150 with or without a meal. The dosage and length of the treatment regimen typically depend on the condition being treated. To get the most out of this medicine, take it religiously at evenly spaced intervals and continue using it until the prescribed period is over, even if your symptoms disappear after a few days of using this medication. Stopping treatment too early may increase the risk of infection recurrence.

Furthermore, if you frequently miss doses, you can increase your risk of infections that become resistant to further treatment. You must tell your healthcare specialist if the infection doesn’t improve or if it gets worse. Do not use antacids one hour before or two hours after taking this antifungal medicine. Don’t hesitate to consult your doctor if you are unsure about the correct dosing regimen.

Precautions with Fluconazole tablet

Diflucan or Fluka 150 should not be used in patients who have shown hypersensitivity to Fluconazole or any inactive ingredients used. Co-administration of Terfenadine and cisapride is contraindicated in patients receiving this fluconazole antifungal drug. Let your doctor know if you are taking pimozide, erythromycin, and quinidine. Your doctor should know if you are suffering from liver disease, kidney problems, heart rhythm problems, severe skin reactions, adrenal insufficiency, or abnormal calcium, magnesium, and potassium levels.

Serious skin reactions, including drug interaction with eosinophilia, have been reported in association with Fluconazole tablets. Discontinue your antifungal treatment and seek immediate medical attention if you notice any of the symptoms related to these serious skin reactions. This medicine may cause dizziness; therefore, avoid driving or operating complex machines until it is safe.

Side effects of the Fluconazole tablet

A few people using Diflucan or Fluka tablets may develop allergic reactions, although serious allergic reactions are rare. If you experience any side effects, please consult your doctor immediately. Let your doctor know if you develop a skin rash, swelling of the eyelids, face, or lips, itching all over the body, difficulty breathing, or chest tightness. A fluconazole formulation may affect your liver. The signs of liver disease include vomiting, fatigue, loss of appetite, yellowing of the skin, and jaundice (yellowing of the whites of the eyes).

The most common Diflucan/Fluka 150 mg side effects include stomach pain, diarrhoea, vomiting, nausea, headache, or rash.
