Emeset 4 mg contain an active ingredient called Ondansetron, which belongs to the anti-emetics group. It helps to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy in adults and children or radiotherapy for cancer in adults only. It can also be prescribed for the prevention of nausea and vomiting after surgery. Ask your doctor if you need further explanation about the uses of Emeset tablets. The medicine does not relieve other adverse effects associated with cancer treatments. Ondansetron has little effect on vomiting caused by motion sickness.
Always take Emeset 4 mg exactly as your doctor has instructed you. You should check with your doctor if you are not sure about the correct usage. Your doctor will decide the exact dosage to be used for you to treat your condition. Generally, the medicine can be taken before or after consuming food. It can be used as a monotherapy or as conjunctive therapy to control nausea and vomiting. Your doctor will suggest the appropriate dose for you depending on various factors, including age, the severity of the condition, and response to the treatment. The first dose of Ondansetron is normally taken before the start of surgery, chemotherapy, or radiotherapy. After these therapies, you may take further doses exactly as prescribed by your doctor. An overdose of Emeset 4 mg can cause serious health complications that need immediate medical attention.
Do not take Ondansetron 4 mg tablets if you take Apomorphine used for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. Avoid taking medicine if you are hypersensitive to Ondansetron or any other ingredients of the medicine. Check with your doctor before taking Emeset 4 mg if you have ever had heart problems, uneven heartbeat, liver problems, blockage in your gut, problems with potassium, sodium, and magnesium in the blood.
Instruct the patient to report the use of all the medications, especially Apomorphine, to their doctor. Concomitant use of Apomorphine and Emeset may cause a significant reduction in blood pressure and loss of consciousness. Patients are warned of serotonin syndrome with concomitant use of Ondansetron and another serotonergic agent, such as medications used to treat migraines and depression. Seek immediate medical help if you develop autonomic instability, changes in mental status, neuromuscular symptoms with or without gastrointestinal symptoms.
Like all medicines, Emeset 4 mg can cause side effects, although not everybody gets it. The common side effects of Ondansetron are constipation, a feeling of warmth or flushing, and changes to liver function liver tests. Rarely an individual taking Emeset tablets experience an allergic reaction. The symptoms include sudden wheezing, chest tightness, swelling of your eyelids, and skin rash.
