What not to do while using Tretinoin?

Avoid overexposing the treated areas to sunlight or extremely cold weather. While using Tretinoin, the skin will be more prone to dryness, sunburn, and irritation, especially during the initial 2 or 3 weeks. However, you should not discontinue treatment unless the skin irritation becomes severe. 

What to expect when using Tretinoin?

During the first few weeks of using Tretinoin, your skin may become irritated. Also, your acne may get worse before it appears to improve. It may take up to more than twelve weeks before you notice a significant improvement in the appearance of acne. 

Can Tretinoin be used on scars?

Tretinoin can also be applied to decrease the appearance of acne scarring. Since Tretinoin speeds up skin cell turnover, it encourages new cell growth at the site of scarring. All forms of Tretinoin are found to be effective in treating acne scars.

Is using Tretinoin daily safe?

Yes, Tretinoin is meant to be used every night. Tretinoin can cause skin irritation and peeling, especially when using it. 

Is there a need to apply moisturizer after Tretinoin?

Tretinoin without moisturizer is generally not recommended. Those using Tretinoin are advised to moisturize while using this topical formulation to reduce their chance of developing dry and peeling skin.  

What is the best time to apply Tretinoin?

It is best to apply Tretinoin at bedtime and start using it just a few times per week and then increase the frequency as tolerated.   

Do I need a prescription for acne treatment?

Many anti-acne products are sold in pharmacies. You can buy many anti-acne medications to treat mild to moderate acne and prevent breakouts. In severe cases, prescription acne medications effectively treat and improve skin conditions.
