Oxcarb 600 mg is a prescription medicine used to treat seizures. It contains the active ingredient Oxcarbazepine used alone or in combination with other medicines to treat partial seizures in adults. Your doctor may prescribe it as a monotherapy to treat partials seizures in children aged 4 years and older. It may also be given with other medicines to treat partial seizures in children two years and older.

Do not stop taking Oxcarb 600 mg without speaking to your doctor. Stopping the medication suddenly can cause serious health complications, including seizures that will not stop. Take the tablet exactly as your doctor has told you. Your doctor may change the dose, and he/she will tell you how much Oxcarbazepine tablets. Take the tablet twice daily before or after consuming food. If you take too many tablets, call your doctor straight away. If you miss a dose of Oxcarb, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Make sure you do not take an extra dose of Oxcarbazepine to make up for the missed one. Let your doctor know if you are also using any other medicines to control seizures. These anti-seizure drugs include carbamazepine, phenytoin, valproic acid, or phenobarbital.

Do not take Oxcarb 600 mg if you are allergic to Oxcarbamazepine or any other medicine ingredients. According to clinical reports, many people who are allergic to carbamazepine are also allergic to Oxcarb tablets. You must inform your doctor if you are allergic to carbamazepine.

Do not drive, operate heavy machinery, or do other dangerous activities until you know how this anti-convulsant medication affects you. The medicine may affect your motor skills. Do not drink alcohol or take other medications that may make you sleepy or dizzy during the treatment until you speak to your doctor. Make sure your doctor is aware of your pregnancy status or if you are breastfeeding. Tell your doctor if you have a kidney disorder or have other medical conditions. Oral contraceptives may not be effective while you are using Carbamazepine. To avoid pregnancy, use other forms of birth control measures. These may include the diaphragm, condoms, or contraceptive foam or jelly.  

Oxcarb 600 mg may cause serious side effects such as trouble concentrating, sleepiness, tiredness, confusion, trouble walking; your seizures can happen more often or become worse, problems with your speech and language. Get immediate medical help right away if you have these symptoms. The most common side effects of the medicine include nausea, double vision, dizziness, stomach pain, tiredness, vomiting, double vision, upset stomach, infections, rash, trembling, problems with walking and coordination.
