SKU 408
US Brand Name Aromasin
Strength 25 mg
Generic Name Exemestane
Manufacturer Pfizer (Turkey)

Aromasin 25 mg contains Exemestane, categorized under the class of medicines known as aromatase inhibitors. It interferes with aromatase, which is required to make the female hormones estrogens, especially in postmenopausal women. Reducing levels of estrogen is a way to treat hormone-dependent breast cancer. Aromasin is indicated for treating hormone-dependent early breast cancer in postmenopausal women after 2 to 3 years of tamoxifen therapy (an anticancer medicine). It is also given to treat hormone-dependent advanced-stage breast cancer in postmenopausal women when a different hormonal drug has not worked well.

Always take this anticancer medicine exactly as prescribed. Usually, Aromasin is taken after a meal, and the suggested dose is one 25 mg tablet daily. It is not suitable for use in children. Do not discontinue treatment even if you are feeling well unless your doctor advises you.

Do not take Aromasin 25 mg if you are allergic to Exemestane or have any other ingredients of this medicine, you still having your monthly period, or if you are pregnant, likely to be pregnant, or breastfeeding. Before taking Exemestane tablets, tell your doctor if you have :

     –    Kidney or liver problems.

     –    History or are suffering from any conditions that affect the strength of your bones. Certain medications should be used cautiously when taking Aromasin 25 mg.

     –    Taking medicines such as phenytoin, carbamazepine, rifampicin, and the herbal remedy St. Johns Wort.

     –    Pregnancy or breastfeeding state.

     –    If you feel drowsy, dizzy, or weak while taking this anticancer medicine, you should not attempt to operate machinery.

Like any other medicine, Androcur 50 mg can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Inflammation of the liver, hypersensitivity, and inflammation of the liver's bile ducts, which cause yellowing of the skin, may occur. Symptoms of the medicine include nausea, jaundice, right-sided abdominal pain, and loss of appetite.

Generally, Aroamsin is well tolerated, and the common side effects observed in patients treated with Aromasin are mild to moderate. Most of the side effects are associated with the shortage of estrogen. The common side effects include dizziness, abdominal pain, tiredness, headache, hot flashes, depression, muscle and joint pain, feeling sick, trouble sleeping, abdominal pain, increased sweating, and pain.
