What is Telma 80 mg?
Telma 80 mg is a prescription medicine containing Telmisartan (active ingredient), which belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin II receptors antagonist or blockers. Angiotensin II is a chemical produced in the body that causes contraction of muscles surrounding the blood vessels. This causes the narrowing of the blood vessels and results in increased pressure within the vessels and can cause high blood pressure (hypertension). Telmacause a significant reduction in cardiovascular events, renal problems, and diabetic symptoms in adults who are at great risk due to reduced blood supply to heart and other parts of the body. What are the dosing instructions?
The recommended dose of Telma in adults is 80 mg twice every day. The dose should be adjusted as per the response of the patient towards the drug under the supervision of your doctor. Report your doctor after a regular time interval of 3 to 4 weeks. Your blood pressure medicine is available in the form of a tablet and this makes it easier to be consumed orally with sufficient amount of water. Completely swallow this medicine with water. Do not chew it.If you forget to take your medication, do take it as soon as you remember it. What are the Warnings &Precautions
Telma 80 mg drug is reported to contraindicate in case of allergic reactions, and angioedema. Anesthesia can cause hypotension and interfere with the working of this drug.Avoid consuming this drug before taking any laboratory tests. Telmisartancontains hydrochlorothiazide constituent that can decrease the serum plasma levels.In case, you have renal disorders or if you are diabetic please, do inform your doctor before consuming this medicine. Side effects of Telma 80 mg
Telmisartan is known to have severe complications and some of them are dizziness, frequent chills, body pain, skin problems, skin edema, diarrhoea or constipation, nausea, fever, breathing difficulties, weight gain or weight loss, loss of appetite, allergic outburst, headache, cough, and cold.
Telmisartan drug is known to interact with the following drugs:
- Aliskiren – can increase complications in a patient with diabetes and renal problems
- Digoxin – can increase the plasma concentration
- Lithium – can increase the serum concentration and toxicity
- Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents including selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors – can cause an adverse effect on renal functions
- Ramipril and Ramiprilat – can enhance the combined effect of Telmisartan
