Lipril 10 mg belongs to a group of medications known as ACE inhibitors which causes blood vessels to relax, making it easier for the blood to pass through them. Lisinopril effectively treats high blood pressure and heart failure and reduces the risk of another heart attack. It can be used in combination with other medications to treat your condition. ACE inhibitors prevent your body from making a chemical called angiotensin II. This chemical makes your blood vessels narrower. When this happens, your blood has less space to move in. It also triggers a hormone that makes your body hold on to water. In a narrow space, excess fluid in your body will cause your blood pressure to go up. Â
ACE inhibitors help to control blood pressure by reducing the amount of angiotensin II in your body. This causes your blood vessels to relax and become wider. It makes it easier for your blood to flow through your blood vessels. Lowering blood pressure means an easy flow of blood towards your heart and other organs.
Since absorption of Lipril 10 mg is not affected by food, the medicine may be administered before, during, or after meals. The drug should be consumed in a single dose. As with single daily dose medication, Lisinopril should be consumed approximately daily at the same time.
For hypertension, the usual recommended dose is 10 mg. Your doctor will adjust your dosage according to your blood pressure response. In some patients, achievement of blood pressure reduction may require two to four weeks of therapy. A lower starting dose is required if you have renal problems, renovascular hypertension, or are salt depleted for any reason.
Symptomatic hypertension may occur following the initiation of Lisinopril treatment; This is more common in patients currently being treated with diuretics. Caution should be taken as these patients may be volume depleted. Your doctor may ask to discontinue your diuretic therapy with Lisinopril. In some patients, the diuretic treatment cannot be stopped, and a lower dose of Lipril should be administered. Â In general, the dosage should be adjusted according to blood pressure response. If there is a need, diuretic therapy may be reassumed. Lipril tablet is not recommended for children, and it should be given to them without consulting a doctor.
Do not use Lipril 10 mg if you are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine. Avoid taking it if you have allergies to any other ACE inhibitor or have been diagnosed with angioedema. Signs of an allergic reaction include trouble breathing/swallowing, swelling of the hands, face, lips, tongue, throat, feet, and ankles. You should immediately inform your doctor if you develop these signs of an allergic reaction. Do not use Lisinopril formulations if you have diabetes or are already taking a blood pressure medicine or angiotensin receptor blocker.
The possible side effects that you may feel when taking Lipril tablets. Talk to your doctor if you experience headache, hair loss, unusual tiredness, changes in taste, pain in the abdomen, impotence, sore throat, dry cough, stuffy nose, and changes in your mood or confusion.
