Generic Name Benzoyl Peroxide

Persol Gel 2.5% has been well established as a common medication for acne vulgaris. It has the active component benzoyl peroxide, an antibacterial agent that kills the acne-causing bacteria and unplug pores, preventing comedones' formation. It is a gel-based formula for treating mild to moderate acne. The formulation absorbs excess oil leading to a clear and reduces skin irritation.

Wash the affected area with a mild cleanser and pat the skin dry before applying the gel. Apply Persol gel to the areas of your skin affected by acne. Apply a thin layer of gel all over the affected areas once daily, leaving it on the skin for a few hours before you wash it off with water. You can apply a light moisturizer that will not clog pores. It is best to apply for topical medicine and leave it all night. Avoid getting the medication getting into your eyes, inside your nose, mouth, or any area of broken skin since it may contribute to irritation. If this happens, rinse the area with plenty of water—application mand treatment duration based on the severity of acne. Improvement can be usually seen after three weeks of regular use and maximum benefits after 8 to 12 weeks of usage. Do not use it more often than directed. Your condition will not improve faster if you apply the gel more often than recommended. If you do not see improvement or your condition worsens, speak to your dermatologist straight away.

It is a safe medicine, but you should tell your dermatologist if your skin has other skin conditions and use any other topical medication. The gel formulation may not be suitable for you to have extremely sensitive skin. Please ask your dermatologist if you are using this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Before using the product for the first time, check if you are hypersensitive to it. To check if you are allergic to benzoyl peroxide or not, apply a small amount to small acne areas for three days. If you develop an allergic reaction, discontinue treatment straight away. You can check the symptoms of an allergic reaction in the side effects section. If you do not develop any allergic reaction, you can use the product under a dermatologist's supervision. If you are using any other medication, including prescription or over the counter products, to self-treat your skin condition, if you have any doubts about the usage of the medicine, consult your dermatologist. If your dermatologist has prescribed this medication, use it as directed.

Persol Gel 2.5% has some common side effects, including stinging, itching, peeling, and darkening of skin colour. Most of them are mild and do not usually serious, but they persist for a longer duration and become troublesome. You may need to apply the formulation amounts to reduce the severity of side effects.
