Susten 200mg for Women'S Health — Trusted Generic Prometrium

Susten is a soft capsule that comprises the natural female hormone, Progesterone, for oral use. It is a prescription treatment for women with premenstrual abnormalities or secondary amenorrhea and as hormonal replacement therapy in combination with estrogen in postmenopausal women with an intact uterus. Susten contains the active ingredient progesterone, a steroid hormone traditionally linked with female fertility and pregnancy.

The steroid hormone progesterone plays a crucial role in the reproductive events associated with pregnancy establishment and maintenance. Your doctor may prescribe Susten capsules for another purpose. Please ask your doctor if you have any queries about why this medicine has been prescribed.

Your doctor will tell you how many capsules you should take every day. For women using hormone replacement therapy in combination with estrogen with a contact uterus, the usual dose is 200 mg per day at bedtime on days 15 to 26 of your menstrual cycle. You will usually have a few days of withdrawal bleeding after this time.

For women with secondary amenorrhea, the treatment may be taken as a daily dose of 400 mg at bedtime for ten days. In menstrual irregularities due to ovulation disorders, treatment is given over ten days per menstrual cycle, usually from days 17 to 26 inclusive.

Susten is to be taken orally and swallowed with a glass of water. Avoid taking medicine with food as this may affect the way Progesterone works. Carefully follow all the directions provided by your doctor. The length of the treatment will differ depending on the condition it is being treated and the dose prescribed. Progesterone 200 and estrogen replacement therapy may be taken for up to twelve days in the last half of the cycle. The treatment may be continued for up to ten days in women with secondary amenorrhoea.

Susten should not be used in women with known hypersensitivity to its ingredients. It also contains peanut oil and should never be used by women allergic to peanuts. Women with undiagnosed abnormal genital bleeding should not use gelatin capsules. It is contraindicated in women with a history of cancer, active deep vein thrombosis, stroke, pulmonary embolism, and myocardial infarction.

Also, do not take Susten capsules if any of the following applies to you:

  — Severe liver problems

  — Known missed abortions or ectopic pregnancy

  — Known or suspected cancer of the breast or genital tract

  — Unusual vaginal bleeding that your doctor has not determined

  — Bleeding on the brain

  — Blood clots, such as inflammation of a vein

  — Porphyria disorder

Do not take medicine if you are pregnant or wish to become pregnant. If you get pregnant while receiving Progesterone, stop taking the medication immediately and tell your doctor. Also, avoid the use if you are breastfeeding. Do not give this to a child of any age.

Before initiating the treatment, you must tell your doctor if you have epilepsy, migraine, high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, heart disease, liver problems, kidney disease, skin sensitivity to light, and a history of depression.

The most common side effects of Susten 200 mg include dizziness, depression, breast tenderness, abdominal bloating, joint pain, vaginal disorders, joint pain, hot flashes, and urinary continence. Side effects are more common during the first few weeks and usually begin to resolve as your body gets used to this medicine.

What is Susten 200mg used for?

Susten 200mg contains progesterone, a hormone your body produces naturally. It's used to treat low progesterone levels that can cause irregular periods, prevent miscarriage in early pregnancy, or prepare your uterus for pregnancy. Your doctor may also prescribe it to balance hormones during menopause or to protect your uterus if you're taking estrogen therapy. Always take Susten exactly as your doctor directs, as dosing varies depending on your individual condition and needs.

Who is Susten 200mg meant for, and is it right for me?

Susten 200mg contains progesterone (a female hormone) and is prescribed for women who need hormone support during pregnancy, irregular periods, or hormone replacement therapy. Your doctor determines if it's right for you based on your medical history, current health, symptoms, and blood test results. Only your doctor can decide if this medicine suits your individual needs—do not start or stop it without their guidance. If you're unsure whether Susten is appropriate for you, contact your doctor or pharmacist for personalised advice before using it.

How long should I keep using Susten 200mg?

Your doctor will decide how long you should take Susten 200mg based on your individual condition and treatment goals. The duration varies—some people take it for a few weeks, others for several months. Never stop taking Susten without consulting your doctor, as stopping suddenly could affect your treatment. Always follow your doctor's instructions about when to start and stop this medication, and attend regular check-ups so your doctor can assess whether you should continue or adjust your treatment.

Should I take Susten 200mg with food, and does the time of day matter?

You can take Susten 200mg with or without food — it's your choice. Taking it with food may help if you experience stomach upset. The time of day doesn't matter medically, so take it whenever fits your routine best. However, taking it at the same time each day helps you remember your dose consistently. Follow your doctor's specific instructions, as they may recommend a particular schedule based on your treatment plan.

How will I know if Susten 200mg is working for me?

You may notice signs that Susten 200mg is working by observing changes in your menstrual cycle—periods may become more regular or predictable. You might also experience breast tenderness, mild bloating, or mood changes, which can indicate the hormone is affecting your body. However, the most reliable way to confirm it's working is through blood tests measuring progesterone levels, which your doctor can order. Some women feel no obvious symptoms at all, which doesn't mean the medicine isn't working. Discuss any concerns with your doctor for proper monitoring.

What things can affect how well Susten 200mg works?

Several things can affect how well Susten 200mg works for you. Taking it with fatty foods helps your body absorb it better, so take it with a meal if possible. Certain medicines, including some antifungals and anticonvulsants, can reduce its effectiveness—tell your doctor about all medicines you're taking. Liver problems may affect how your body processes progesterone. Missing doses or taking it irregularly reduces its effectiveness. Individual differences in how your body absorbs and processes the medication also matter. Always take Susten exactly as prescribed to get the best results.

What are the common side effects of Susten 200mg, and should I be worried?

Susten 200mg may cause dizziness, headache, nausea, breast tenderness, or mood changes. These effects are usually mild and tend to decrease after your body adjusts to the medicine. Some people experience drowsiness or abdominal discomfort. Most side effects don't require medical attention. However, contact your doctor immediately if you experience chest pain, severe headache, vision changes, or signs of blood clots like leg swelling or shortness of breath. Always discuss any concerns with your doctor before stopping this medicine.

Can Susten 200mg cause an allergic reaction, and what should I look for?

Yes, Susten 200mg can cause an allergic reaction in some people. Watch for signs like rash, itching, swelling of your face or throat, difficulty breathing, or dizziness. If you experience any of these symptoms, stop taking Susten and seek medical help immediately. Tell your doctor before taking this medicine if you've had allergies to progesterone or similar hormonal medicines. Most people tolerate Susten well, but allergic reactions require urgent attention.

Can I use Susten 200mg alongside my other medicines or supplements?

Susten 200mg can interact with certain medicines and supplements, so you should always tell your doctor about everything you're taking before using it. Your doctor or pharmacist can check for potentially unsafe combinations and adjust your treatment if needed. Some medicines may affect how progesterone works in your body, or progesterone may affect how other medicines work. Never start, stop, or change any medicine without speaking to your doctor first. They'll ensure Susten 200mg is safe alongside your current medications.

Can vitamins or herbal remedies interfere with Susten 200mg?

Some herbal remedies may reduce how well Susten works in your body. St. John's Wort, for example, can lower progesterone levels. Vitamin supplements alone typically don't interfere, but certain herbs like vitex (chasteberry) affect hormone balance. Before taking any new vitamins or herbal products alongside Susten, tell your doctor first. They'll check for interactions specific to your health and other medicines. This ensures your progesterone levels stay effective for your treatment.

Are there any groups of people who should be extra careful when using Susten 200mg?

Certain people need extra caution with Susten 200mg. Tell your doctor before using this medicine if you have a history of blood clots, liver disease, breast cancer, or heart problems. Pregnant women should only use it if specifically prescribed by their doctor. People with allergies to progesterone or peanuts (some formulations contain peanut oil) should avoid it. If you're breastfeeding, discuss use with your doctor first. Those taking blood thinners need monitoring. Always inform your healthcare provider about existing health conditions before starting treatment.

Can older adults or children use Susten 200mg safely?

Susten 200mg is not routinely recommended for children because progesterone use in young patients requires specialist assessment. For older adults, Susten can be used safely when prescribed by a doctor, though your healthcare provider will consider your medical history and other medicines you take. Age alone doesn't prevent use—your doctor will decide if it's appropriate for you based on your individual health needs. Always follow your doctor's guidance on whether this medicine is suitable for your situation.

How does Susten 200mg compare to other treatments used for the same condition?

Susten 200mg contains progesterone, which is a hormone therapy used mainly to support pregnancy and regulate menstrual cycles. Other treatments for similar conditions include synthetic progestins (man-made versions of progesterone) and combined hormone therapies. Progesterone is often preferred because it's a natural hormone your body produces. However, the best choice depends on your specific condition, medical history, and how your body responds. Your doctor will recommend the most suitable option for you based on your individual needs and circumstances.

What are my options if Susten 200mg does not agree with me?

If Susten 200mg doesn't agree with you, talk to your doctor before making any changes. They may adjust your dose, suggest taking it at a different time of day, or recommend taking it with food to reduce stomach upset. Your doctor might also prescribe a different progesterone [a hormone that prepares your body for pregnancy] formulation, such as vaginal gel or suppositories, which some people tolerate better. In some cases, an alternative medication may be appropriate. Never stop taking Susten without medical guidance, as this could affect your treatment. Your doctor will help find the best option for you.

Is it safe to buy Susten 200mg online, and how do I know it is genuine?

Buying Susten 200mg online from licensed pharmacies like ReliableRxPharmacy is safe. We source our medicines from authorised distributors of the manufacturer, ensuring genuine products. Before purchasing, check that the pharmacy is licensed and requires a valid prescription. Genuine Susten tablets have clear packaging with the manufacturer's name, batch number, and expiry date printed on it. Avoid sellers offering unusually low prices or those not requesting a prescription. If you receive tablets that look damaged or have unclear labelling, contact the pharmacy immediately.

How do I safely dispose of leftover or out-of-date Susten 200mg?

Do not flush or throw Susten 200mg tablets in the bin. Take unused or out-of-date tablets to your local pharmacy — they have proper disposal facilities. Many pharmacies accept old medicines at no cost. If your pharmacy cannot help, contact your local waste disposal service for guidance on safe disposal in your area. Never leave medicine where children or pets can reach it.
