Risnia 4 mg contains Risperidone, which belongs to the group of medicines known as atypical antipsychotics used to treat psychotic disorders. It is effective in treating Schizophrenia and manic depression, both symptom of bipolar disorder. It can also be given to treat irritability symptoms in children who have autism. Risperidone helps restore the balance of neurotransmitters in the brain, which can lessen the symptoms associated with psychotic disorders.

You can take Risnia 4 mg in the form of a tablet. The doctor will decide the dosage and ensure that you follow the instructions. You can take medicine before or after consuming food. It may take up to 2 to 3 weeks to achieve desired results, do not discontinue without consulting your doctor.   

While receiving Risnia 4 mg, avoid alcohol, as it can worsen your side effects. You also must be careful while doing activities requiring your complete attention. Try to get up slowly if you are sitting or lying down to avoid an accidental fall, as you may have dizziness. Also, keep yourself hydrated by drinking a lot of fluids.

Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive. Avoid breastfeeding while taking Risperidone. Keep your doctor informed about your medical condition and the medications you are using to rule out any adverse reactions.

Risnia may cause interaction with drugs such as antidepressants, anticonvulsants, antihistamines, bronchodilators, painkillers, and drugs used to treat psychosis. Inform your doctor if you have central nervous system depression, liver disorder, dementia, acute alcohol intoxication, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, parkinsonism, lipid alterations, diabetes, low blood pressure, seizures,  irregular heartbeat, blood abnormalities and kidney impairment.

The side effects of Risnia 4 mg include drooling, headache, nausea, drowsiness, light-headedness, weight, or a feeling of restlessness. These mild symptoms normally resolve within a few days, but if any of them persist, a consultation with your doctor may be required. However, there may be certain side effects that will require immediate medical help. These include:

   — Uncontrolled muscle movements of the face like frowning, tongue, and lip-smacking.

   — High fever, tremors, swelling, sweating, uneven heartbeat and faint-like feeling.

   — Swelling or tenderness of the breast in both men and women, nipple discharge, missed or irregular periods.

   — Unusual bleeding from the mouth, rectum, nose, or vagina and the development of red or purple spots under the skin; all these signs indicate high blood sugar.

   — Priapism (a prolonged or painful erection of the penis).
