Lipril 5 mg is a prescription treatment for patients with high blood pressure and heart failure. The active functional agent is Lisinopril, a class of medications known as angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. The class of drugs cause your blood vessels in your body to relax, which makes it easier for the blood to pass through the vessels. This reduces the load on your heart, and the heart does not have to work more to push the blood.
Your doctor will tell you what dosage of Lipril is right for you. Your dose, duration of treatment, and how often you take it will depend on several factors. These factors include age, the condition being treated, the severity of the condition, or other medical condition you have. In general, you may take medicine before or after consuming food, usually once daily. For best results, follow your doctor’s instructions. It may take up to 2 to 4 weeks to treat high blood pressure before you feel improvement in your condition. Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it gets worse than ever before.
Before taking Lipril 5 mg, you must tell your doctor if you are allergic to Lisinopril or any other medicine ingredients. You must inform your doctor if you have problems related to the liver, kidneys, heart, or low white blood cell count. Let your doctor if you have diabetes, uncontrolled blood pressure, or if you recently have diarrhoea or vomiting. Let your doctor know about all the medications you have been using because they may affect Lisinopril work. Consult your doctor before taking Lipril tablet if you plan to conceive if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. This helps to avoid any harmful effects on the baby.
Lipril 5 mg may cause a sudden drop in blood pressure. This can may you feel dizzy or faint. You should not indulge inactive that requires you to alert, such as driving or use machinery work. Lisinopril can have other side effects as well. The most common ones include dizziness, headache, chest pain, low blood pressure, persistent cough. If these side effects are mild, they may go away within a few days as your body gets familiar with the drug’s action. Call your doctor straight away if you develop serious side effects. Serious side effects and their symptoms can include hypersensitivity or allergic reactions. Allergic reaction symptoms include trouble breathing, trouble swallowing, stomach pain, swelling of your face, tongue, lips, or throat. Rarely people may experience severe kidney disease, including weight gain, tiredness, shortness of breath, and swelling of their hands. Lipril 5 mg can cause dangerously high potassium levels. This can lead to rhythm problems. Your risk may be higher if you have diabetes, kidney impairment, or taking drugs that increase potassium levels.
