Evalon 1for Women'S Health — Trusted Generic Ovestin

Evalon is a prescription treatment for vaginal problems caused by a lack of estrogen. It contains Estriol, which belongs to a group of medicines called Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). It is a natural occurring Oestrogen, one of the three types of estrogen, which is also produced by the female human body. Estriol cream replaces estrogen in the vaginal area when your body is not producing enough. Women produce estrogen from their ovaries during their adult life. The hormone plays a significant role in sexual development and managing the menstrual cycle. During menopause, the levels of a hormone produced by the ovaries go down. At this time, estrogen levels can go up and down, causing symptoms such as vaginal dryness, itching, uncomfortable, or painful sexual intercourse. It helps relieve menstrual symptoms in the vagina, such as dryness and itchiness. You may get similar symptoms if your ovaries are taken out in operation. This is known as surgical menopause.

Evalon Cream 15 gm should only be used in the vagina of adult women. Always use this topical medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. You should check with your doctor if you have any doubts about the drug’s usage. The product comes with an applicator that you screw on the tube. It will help you get the right amount into your vagina. Unless your doctor advises you otherwise, you should start by using one applicator of Evalon cream each evening. When your symptoms begin to improve, your doctor may recommend you use one applicator of cream twice a week. Follow your doctor’s advice on how to use this topical medicine.

Do not use Evalon cream if you are allergic to peanuts or soya. The topical product contains peanut oil. Avoid the use if you are allergic to Estriol or any other ingredient present in the medication. Do not use Estriol cream if you have abnormal vaginal bleeding, acute liver disease, or have ever had breast cancer. Check with your doctor before using Evalon if you are using a barrier method of contraception such as condoms or a diaphragm. This is because the topical product can damage the rubber and makes it less effective. Let your doctor know if you are taking other medications. This includes non-prescription or herbal supplements or other natural products. Estriol can affect the mode of action of other medicines. Also, some other topical or even oral medications can affect how Evalon works.

The following diseases are reported more often in women using HRT, which circulate in the blood than those not receiving HRT. However, the risk is less to topical treatments such as Evalon:

  • Ovarian cancer
  • Stroke
  • Clotting in the veins of the lungs or legs
  • Memory loss if HRT is started over the age of 65 years

Inform your doctor if you notice any of the above symptoms. Other common side effects associated with the topical medication include irritation of the skin around the vaginal skin, increased vaginal discharge, bleeding, gall bladder problems, breasts becoming swollen, headaches, feeling sick, or flu-like symptoms.

What is Evalon 15 gm used for?

Evalon 15 gm is used to treat symptoms of vaginal atrophy [thinning and drying of vaginal tissues], which often occurs after menopause. The cream contains estriol, a form of estrogen that helps restore moisture, elasticity, and comfort to the vaginal area. You apply it directly to the affected skin to reduce itching, burning, and discomfort during intercourse. This medicine works locally in the vaginal tissues and is typically used for several weeks. Always follow your doctor's instructions on how often to apply it and for how long.

How does Evalon 15 gm work in the body?

Evalon 15 gm contains estriol, a weak form of oestrogen (a female hormone). When you apply it to your skin, it is absorbed into the tissue beneath and works by restoring oestrogen levels locally. This helps rebuild and strengthen the skin's structure, improves elasticity, and reduces dryness and irritation. Estriol stimulates the production of collagen (a protein that supports skin firmness) and increases blood flow to the area. This makes the skin thicker, more hydrated, and healthier-looking.

Can I stop using Evalon 15 gm once I start feeling better?

Don't stop using Evalon 15 gm without speaking to your doctor first, even if you feel better. Your doctor prescribed a specific treatment plan for your condition, and stopping early may cause symptoms to return or prevent proper healing. Continue applying the cream as directed until your doctor tells you to stop, or your condition may worsen. Always follow your doctor's instructions about how long to use this medicine.

Should I wash the area before applying Evalon 15 gm?

Yes, you should wash the area with mild soap and lukewarm water before applying Evalon 15 gm. Pat your skin dry completely with a clean towel. Applying the cream to clean, dry skin helps it work better and reduces the risk of irritation. Avoid using hot water, as this can irritate your skin further. If you're applying it to a sensitive area, use extra gentleness when washing and drying.

How long does it take to see visible results with Evalon 15 gm?

Visible results with Evalon usually appear within 2–4 weeks of regular use, though some improvement may be noticeable earlier. Full benefits typically develop over 8–12 weeks of consistent application. Results vary depending on your skin condition severity and how regularly you apply the cream. For best outcomes, apply it exactly as your doctor directs and be patient—skin changes take time. If you don't see improvement after 12 weeks, discuss this with your doctor.

Will Evalon 15 gm completely clear my skin, or does it manage the condition?

Evalon manages your skin condition rather than completely clearing it. Estriol works by helping to restore skin thickness and elasticity, which reduces symptoms like dryness and irritation. With regular use, you'll notice improvement in how your skin looks and feels. However, this is an ongoing treatment—your symptoms may return if you stop using it. Continue applying Evalon as directed by your doctor to maintain the benefits. Results typically develop gradually over several weeks of consistent use.

Are there any serious warning signs I should watch out for with Evalon 15 gm?

With Evalon 15 gm, watch for signs of allergic reaction such as severe itching, rash, swelling of your face or lips, or difficulty breathing. Stop using it immediately and seek medical help if these occur. Also report unusual vaginal bleeding, breast tenderness, or signs of skin infection at the application site. If you experience chest pain, leg swelling, or shortness of breath, contact your doctor urgently. These serious warning signs need prompt medical attention.

Is it safe to use Evalon 15 gm for a long period of time?

Evalon should only be used for as long as your doctor recommends. Long-term use of estriol (a form of estrogen) applied to skin may carry risks that need medical monitoring. Your doctor will decide the right treatment length based on your condition and health. Do not continue using Evalon beyond the prescribed period without checking with your doctor first. If you have concerns about how long you've been using it, contact your healthcare provider to discuss whether ongoing treatment remains appropriate for you.

Which medicines should I avoid while using Evalon 15 gm?

Estriol is absorbed minimally through your skin, so serious interactions with other medicines are rare. However, tell your doctor about all medicines you're taking, especially hormone-based treatments (like contraceptives or hormone replacement therapy). If you're using other topical products on the same area, apply them at different times—ask your pharmacist about spacing. Avoid applying Evalon over broken or irritated skin, as this increases absorption. Always inform your healthcare provider before starting or stopping any medicine while using Evalon.

Is it safe to use sunscreen or makeup over Evalon 15 gm?

You can apply sunscreen or makeup over Evalon after it has fully absorbed into your skin. Wait 5–10 minutes after applying Evalon to allow it to dry completely, then apply your other products as normal. This prevents the sunscreen or makeup from interfering with how Evalon works. Always use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, especially on treated areas, since estriol (the active ingredient in Evalon) may increase sun sensitivity. If your skin feels irritated, speak to your doctor before layering products.

Can I use Evalon 15 gm on sensitive or broken skin?

Do not apply Evalon to broken or damaged skin. If your skin is broken, cracked, or has open wounds, the medicine may be absorbed too quickly or cause irritation. Only apply Evalon to intact, healthy skin as directed by your doctor. If you have sensitive skin, test a small amount on a small area first and wait 24 hours to check for any reaction. If you develop redness, itching, or burning after applying Evalon, stop using it and contact your doctor. Never use on areas with cuts, grazes, or skin conditions like eczema without medical advice.

Can older adults or children use Evalon 15 gm safely?

Evalon is intended for use in adults only. Children should not use this medicine without specific medical guidance, as their skin develops differently and hormone absorption works differently in growing bodies. Older adults can generally use Evalon safely, but they should inform their doctor about all medicines they take and any skin conditions they have. Since estriol (a weak oestrogen hormone) is absorbed through the skin, your doctor needs to know your complete health history before you start using it. Always follow your doctor's instructions for safe use.

What should I discuss with my doctor before starting Evalon 15 gm?

Before you start Evalon, tell your doctor if you have a history of blood clots, stroke, or heart disease, as estriol (a form of oestrogen) may increase these risks in some people. Mention any current medicines, especially blood thinners or hormone treatments. Let your doctor know if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy. Discuss any allergies to estriol or other ingredients in the cream. If you have abnormal vaginal bleeding, liver problems, or a family history of hormone-related cancers, inform your doctor before starting treatment. These details help your doctor decide if Evalon is safe and right for you.

What are my options if Evalon 15 gm does not agree with me?

If Evalon 15 gm does not agree with you, speak to your doctor before making any changes. Your doctor may suggest applying less frequently, stopping temporarily, or switching to a different estriol product or alternative treatment. Some people find their skin adjusts after a few days of use. Never stop using Evalon without medical advice, as this may affect your treatment plan. Your doctor can assess whether the reaction is normal or requires a different approach.

How do I safely dispose of leftover or out-of-date Evalon 15 gm?

Do not throw Evalon cream into household bins or flush it down the toilet. Instead, take your leftover or out-of-date tube to a pharmacy or designated medicine disposal point in your area—most pharmacies accept old medicines for safe destruction. If no local scheme exists, mix the cream with an unpalatable substance like coffee grounds in a sealed bag before disposing of it in household waste. Check your local council website or ask your pharmacist for the nearest disposal location.
