Calutide 50 mg is an effective anticancer medicine suitable for once-daily administration. Each 50 mg of film-coated tablet contains Bicalutamide, an effective treatment for individuals with prostate gland cancer. Your doctor will prescribe this medicine combined with luteinizing releasing hormone (LNRH) to treat stage D2 metastatic prostate cancer. Metastatic carcinoma of the prostate occurs when the tumour growth has spread to different parts of the body. It is not known if the medicine is safe and effective in children.
The recommended dose for Calutide therapy in combination with other medicine (an LHRH analogue) is one 50 mg tablet once daily before or after consuming food. For best results, take the oral medicine exactly as your doctor has prescribed you. Treatment with bicalutamide should be initiated at the same time when you begin taking the LNRH analogue. No adjustment is required for patients with mild to moderate renal and hepatic insufficiency. Rarely does a single dose result in symptoms of an overdose considered to be life-threatening. Do not discontinue treatment unless your doctor tells you to. You can either take the tablet in the morning or evening. Do not take the missed dose; take the next dose following the regular dosing schedule if you miss a dose. Taking more tablets will not benefit you or provide rapid results. If you take too many tablets, call your doctor right away.
Calutide 50 mg tablets are not indicated for use in women. Before taking Bicalutamide tablets, tell your doctor about all the medications, including:
- If you have renal impairment
- If you take a blood thinner (warfarin)
- If you have a partner who could get pregnant. It is recommended to use effective birth control measures during treatment with Calutide and for 130 days after the last dose.
Let your doctor know if you are using any other medicine, including prescription and over the counter products, including vitamins and herbal supplements. The bicalutamide formulation may affect the mode of action of other medicines. You should know the medicines you take. It is best to keep a list of medicinal products with you to show your doctor when you visit them for a new prescription of Calutide.
Calutide 50 mg can cause serious side effects, including liver problems, bleeding issues, breast enlargement, and blood sugar problems. Your doctor may conduct blood tests during treatment with Calutide to check for unwanted effects. You may get worsening of prostate cancer while receiving Bicalutamide therapy with LHRH medicines. In this case, regular monitoring of your prostate cancer with your doctor is necessary to identify if your symptoms get worse. Consult your doctor if you develop breathing problems accompanied by a cough or fever. Some people may also develop inflammation in the lungs called interstitial lung disease. The most common side effects include body pain, weakness, constipation, infection, nausea, diarrhoea, shortness of breath, etc.
