Brimosun P 0.15% (Brimonidine) — Trusted Generic Alphagan-P

Brimosun P 0.15% is used in the treatment, prevention, and improvement of the following diseases such as:

     — Ocular hypertension

     — Open-angle glaucoma

The active ingredient of the drug is Brimonidine. It is an α2-adrenergic receptor agonist prescribed for ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma. The medicine works by reducing the fluid inside the eye, thereby decreasing the pressure inside the eye.

The recommended dose is usually one drop in the affected eye 2 to 3 times daily for the prescribed period. The recommended dose may vary as per the severity of the condition, response to treatment, drug interaction, and so on. The dose will be prescribed after examining your eye thoroughly. You need to wash your hands first before applying the drops. Before putting the eye drops, you should tilt your head back and then, with a finger, pull the eye's lower lid to form a pouch and then put the drop. Close your eye for some time before resuming normal activity.

The missed dose should be applied as soon as you remember about the dose. However, skip the missed dose and follow the original schedule if close to the next dose.

An overdose of the medicine can worsen the situation; hence it should be avoided as much as possible. If there is a case of overdose, then you must consult your doctor on an urgent basis.

  1.  Brimosun P is contraindicated in people who have an allergy to the ingredients.

  6.  Do not use the eye drop in case the liquid has changed colour.
  7.  Use the medicine only for the purpose mentioned and not for any other purpose.
  8.  Do not share your medicine with anyone, even if the person suffers from the same symptoms.

What is Brimosun P 0.15% used for?

Brimosun P 0.15% is used to treat redness and flushing of the face caused by rosacea (a skin condition that causes persistent redness and visible blood vessels). The active ingredient, brimonidine, works by narrowing blood vessels in the skin to reduce visible redness and create a more even skin tone. You apply it directly to affected areas of your face as directed by your doctor. Results typically become visible within 30 minutes and improve over several hours of use.

How does Brimosun P 0.15% work in the body?

Brimosun P 0.15% works by activating alpha-2 receptors (tiny structures on blood vessels and nerves in your skin). This activation narrows blood vessels and reduces blood flow to the area where you apply it. By decreasing redness and flushing, the cream helps calm visible inflammation. The medicine also reduces swelling by decreasing fluid leakage from blood vessels into surrounding skin tissue. This dual action makes it effective for treating conditions marked by facial redness and visible blood vessels.

Can I stop using Brimosun P 0.15% once I start feeling better?

Do not stop using Brimosun P 0.15% without speaking to your doctor first, even if your skin feels better. Brimonidine works by controlling blood vessel dilation (widening of small blood vessels in the skin), and stopping suddenly may allow redness to return. Your doctor will advise you when it's safe to stop or reduce treatment. Complete the full course as prescribed for best results.

Should I wash the area before applying Brimosun P 0.15%?

Yes, wash the area with gentle soap and water before applying Brimosun P 0.15%, then pat it dry completely. Clean skin helps the medicine work more effectively and reduces the risk of irritation. Make sure your hands are also clean before you apply the cream. If you're using other skincare products, apply them first, then wait a few minutes before applying Brimosun P 0.15%. Always follow the instructions your doctor gave you about when and how often to apply it.

How will I know if Brimosun P 0.15% is working for me?

You'll notice Brimosun P 0.15% is working when redness and flushing in your skin reduce noticeably. Most people see improvement within a few weeks of regular use. Your skin should look calmer and feel less hot or irritated. The redness may not disappear completely, but it should be visibly lighter than before you started treatment. If you don't see any improvement after 4–6 weeks of consistent daily use, talk to your doctor—they may adjust your dose or try a different approach.

How long does it take to see visible results with Brimosun P 0.15%?

You'll usually notice a reduction in redness within 30 minutes of applying Brimosun P 0.15%, with the strongest effect appearing between 2–3 hours. The improvement is temporary and lasts around 12 hours per application. Full benefits develop as you continue using it daily over several weeks, as your skin gradually becomes less reactive. Individual results vary depending on your skin type and the severity of your redness. Be consistent with your routine for the best outcome.

Is it safe to use Brimosun P 0.15% for a long period of time?

Brimosun P 0.15% can be used long-term for rosacea and facial redness when prescribed by your doctor. However, prolonged use requires regular monitoring to check your skin's response and ensure no irritation develops. Some people may experience skin sensitivity or tolerance changes over extended periods. Your doctor may adjust your treatment plan as needed. Always follow your prescribed instructions and report any new skin concerns to your doctor. Do not stop using it without medical advice.

Is it normal for my skin to feel irritated or look red after applying Brimosun P 0.15%?

Some mild redness and irritation can occur when you first start using Brimosun P 0.15%, especially in the first few days. Your skin may need time to adjust to brimonidine (a medicine that narrows blood vessels to reduce redness). If redness and irritation persist beyond one week, become severe, or are accompanied by burning, stinging, or swelling, stop using it and contact your doctor. Do not apply it more often than directed, as this can increase irritation. If you have sensitive skin, apply a smaller amount initially. Speak to your doctor if symptoms don't improve.

Can I use Brimosun P 0.15% alongside my other medicines or supplements?

Brimonidine can interact with some medicines and supplements, so you should tell your doctor about everything you take before using Brimosun P 0.15%. This includes blood pressure medicines, antidepressants, and herbal supplements like St. John's Wort. Your doctor will check if it's safe to use together. Do not stop or change any medicine without speaking to your doctor first. If you notice unusual symptoms after starting Brimosun P, contact your doctor right away.

Which medicines should I avoid while using Brimosun P 0.15%?

Brimosun P 0.15% can interact with certain medicines, so tell your doctor about all medicines you take before using it. Avoid combining it with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs — medicines for depression), as this may cause serious blood pressure changes. Be cautious if you're taking blood pressure medicines, as Brimosun P may lower your blood pressure further. Tricyclic antidepressants (older depression medicines) may also increase side effects. Always check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting Brimosun P, especially if you use other facial products or medicines. Report any unusual symptoms immediately.

Is it safe to apply Brimosun P 0.15% on a child's skin?

Brimosun P 0.15% is not recommended for children without a doctor's guidance. Brimonidine (the active ingredient) can be absorbed through a child's skin more easily than an adult's, which may cause unwanted effects. Always speak to your child's doctor before applying this cream to their skin. Your doctor will decide if it's safe for your child's age and condition, and will prescribe the right strength if needed. Never use adult medicines on children without medical approval.

Is it safe to apply Brimosun P 0.15% during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Brimonidine safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully studied in humans. Because it is absorbed through your skin, small amounts may enter your bloodstream. You should not apply Brimosun P 0.15% during pregnancy or while breastfeeding without first speaking to your doctor or midwife. Your doctor can weigh the potential benefits against any risks and recommend the safest option for you and your baby. Do not decide to stop or start using this medicine on your own.

How does Brimosun P 0.15% compare to other treatments used for the same condition?

Brimosun P 0.15% contains brimonidine, which works by narrowing blood vessels in the skin to reduce redness. Unlike oral medicines that work throughout your body, this cream acts directly on the affected area. Other topical treatments for redness may use different mechanisms—some reduce inflammation, while others target underlying causes like rosacea [a skin condition causing persistent facial redness]. Your doctor can advise which approach suits your specific condition best, as effectiveness varies between individuals. Some patients use Brimosun P alongside other treatments for better results.

What should I discuss with my doctor before starting Brimosun P 0.15%?

Before starting Brimosun P 0.15%, tell your doctor if you have heart problems, high or low blood pressure, depression, or kidney or liver disease. Mention any allergies to brimonidine (a medicine that narrows blood vessels) or other ingredients in the cream. Let your doctor know about all medicines you take, especially antidepressants or blood pressure medications, as they may interact. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy, discuss this with your doctor. Tell them if you have glaucoma or eye problems. Your doctor needs this information to ensure Brimosun P is safe and right for you.
