Colchicine is the main salt composition present in the drug Zycolchin 0.5 mg. This drug belongs to a class of natural alkaloid compounds and is prepared from the dried seeds of the plant Colchicum autumnale. This plant is also otherwise known as meadow saffron or autumn crocus. This drug is a member of anti-inflammatory medication and is administered orally. Colchicine blocks the polymerization process of microtubule formation. This causes the mitosis to stall; thus, Zycolchin acts as a spindle poison.

Zycolchin drug is indicated to be used for patients suffering from gout symptoms. This problem can be severe and can include several joints. This condition occurs due to a high amount of uric acid accumulating as crystals in the toe, knee, and ankle joints. In certain cases, this drug has been successfully given to patients for curing chest pain, abdomen pain, and familial Mediterranean fever. Zycolchin reduces inflammation that causes pain, swelling and other gout symptoms.

Use this drug as per the instruction of your doctor. The initial dose for adults is 0.5 mg after every 6 hours. Never stop taking this medicine without your doctor's consent, even if your symptoms are subsided.

This medication should be consumed as a whole tablet with sufficient water. Swallow this tablet and do not chew or crush it. Don’t hesitate to consult your physician if you still have any queries.

If you somehow forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Please avoid taking any dose if it is already time to take the next dose. More than the required dose of any drug can cause severe effects. It may cause some hypersensitive symptoms. In the case of an accidental overdose, you should necessarily consult your doctor.

Mention all the medication (including herbal tonics, supplements etc.) you may be taking to your doctor so that he can prescribe the medicine accordingly. Usage of alcohol, driving, and breastfeeding is unsafe while you are taking this medicine. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or have kidney/liver issues.  

Avoid consuming cyanocobalamin, hydroxocobalamin, erythromycin, cyclosporin, and Zycolchin. These drugs can additively enhance the side effects of Colchicine.

Most side effects do not require medical attention and disappear as soon as your body adjusts to the medicine. Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea are some of the common side effects that can occur.
