Each Vomistop tablet contains 10 mg Domperidone as the active ingredient, which belongs to a class of dopamine antagonists. Your doctor may prescribe this medicine to treat nausea and vomiting in adults and adolescents in patients 12 years of age and older and weighing 35 kg or more.
Take Vomistop 10 mg tablets before meals. Your doctor will suggest you the lowest effective dose of Domperidone. At the same time, taking the medication, contact your doctor if you experience heart rhythm problems such as palpitations, loss of consciousness, trouble breathing. Discontinue treatment if you develop these symptoms. Discuss with your doctor if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant. If you are breastfeeding, it is best not to take Domperidone tablets if you breastfeed your baby. The medicine should be used during pregnancy only if your doctor considers this a necessary treatment. Do not miss a dose; if you do, take it as soon as you remember. Do not take Vomistop tablets if:
- You are hypersensitive to Domperidone or other ingredients present in the tablet
- You have black/tarry/bloody stools, which could be a sign of bleeding in the stomach or intestines
- You are suffering from a condition called prolactinoma (a tumour of the pituitary gland)
- You have moderate to severe liver disorders.
- You have low levels of potassium and magnesium in the blood
- You are taking certain other medicines, including prescription or over the counter medicines.
You must not take Vomistop 10 mg tablets if any of the condition applies to you. If you are not sure, speak to your doctor before taking medicine. Before taking this medicine, contact your doctor if you have liver function impairment or failure or suffer from kidney problems. It is advisable to consult your doctor if you have been asked to take the drug for a prolonged period. Anti-emetic drugs may be associated with an increased risk of heart rhythm disorder and cardiac arrest. Patients above 60 years of age are at higher risk of developing complications associated with Domperidone. Let your doctor if you are taking medications to treat fungal infections, heart problems, and HIV infection.
Vomistop 10 mg can cause side effects in some people. These include seizures, skin rash, severe hypersensitivity reaction, disorders of the cardiovascular system. The medicine should be used at the lowest effective dose. Discontinue treatment with Domperidone and contact your doctor straight away if you experience unwanted effects such as dry mouth, agitation, nervousness, headache, itchiness, rash, hives, milk discharge from breasts, loss of interest in sex, anxiety, diarrhea, sleepiness, and dizziness. Some patients who have used Domperidone for conditions have experienced side effects such as enlarged breasts, depression, irregular menstrual periods, unusual discharge from breasts, difficulty breastfeeding, and hypersensitivity.
