Tizan 2 mg treats muscle spasms. It contains the Tizanidine as the active ingredient Tizanidine, which is considered a muscle relaxant. Tizanidine helps manage spasticity caused by multiple sclerosis, acquired brain surgery, or spinal cord injury. It has also been shown to be clinically effective in managing pain syndromes such as lower back pain, myofascial pain, and trigeminal neuralgia. Do not take this muscle relaxant if you are allergic to Tizanidine or its inactive ingredients.
You should not use Tizan 2 mg if you have had an allergic reaction to Tizanidine or if you are also using the antidepressant fluvoxamine or certain other drugs to control blood pressure such as methyldopa prazosin or clonidine. Your doctor will tell you how much of this medicine to take and how often. Always take Tizanidine exactly as your doctor has told you. Check with your doctor if you are not sure about the correct dosage. If you are an adult, your doctor may start you on a single dose of 2 mg, gradually increasing as per your condition. The medicine is available in the form of tablets for oral use. Swallow the pill with a glass full of water. You should not make any changes to your dosing regimen. Your doctor will decide if you are a suitable candidate for Tizanidine or not. The muscle relaxant is not recommended for use in children and adolescents. Do not discontinue treatment unless your doctor tells you to. The muscle relaxant should be stopped gradually, especially if you have prescribed a high dose of Tizanidine. Â Â
Taking more than the prescribed amount will not benefit you; in fact, it could lead the unwanted side effects. Overdose may cause vomiting, nausea, low blood pressure, dizziness, trouble breathing, restlessness, coma, sleepiness, small pupils, and a slow or abnormal heartbeat.
Speak to your doctor before taking Tizan 2 mg if you have kidney problems, liver problems, and heart problems such as coronary artery disease. Make sure your doctor knows if you are also using medicines to control your blood pressure. Your doctor may change your dose if you are using hypertensive agents. Tizanidine must not be used at the same time as antidepressants or antibiotics. Inform your doctor if you take any other medicines, including medicines to treat abnormal heart rhythm, digestive ulcers, painkillers, antibiotics, and contraceptive pills. You may respond to a lower dose of Tizan if you take the contraceptive pill. Â
Tizan 2 mg can cause side effects, although not everybody who uses it gets them. Common side effects include tiredness, reduction in blood pressure, abnormal heartbeat, drowsiness, tiredness, nausea, stomach upsets, dry mouth, or an increase in blood pressure when stopping the treatment suddenly. Rarely a patient may experience allergic reactions, hallucinations, sleep disorders, or changes in the function of the liver. If you get any side effects, speak to your doctor. This includes side effects not mentioned in this document.
