Sorbitrate 5 mg is a prescription medicine used to treat angina pectoris and myocardial ischemia due to ischaemic heart disease. It is effective in the management of left ventricular failure and congestive heart failure. The medicine helps prevent and treat angina pectoris and myocardial ischaemia due to ischaemic heart disease. The medicine contains Isosorbide dinitrate, which helps to prevent chest pain associated with angina. Isosorbide treats angina, a type of pain and tightness in the chest caused by a lack of oxygen reaching the heart muscles. It widens the arteries that carry blood to the heart muscles and relax veins that carry blood from the body to the heart. This allows more oxygen to reach the heart and reduce its workload. The medicine should be used regularly to prevent future angina attacks.

Usually, Sorbitrate 5 mg should be taken four times daily. To obtain the full therapeutic effect, the dosage of this oral medication must be individualised following each patient’s needs and clinical response. The treatment with Isosorbide usually begins with the lowest therapeutic dose and further adjusted as per need.

Sorbitrate 5 mg should not be given to patients with known hypersensitivity to Isosorbide dinitrate to organic nitrate drugs. Patinmets suffering from intracranial hypertension, severe anaemia, or arterial hypoxaemia, constrictive pericarditis, and hypotension should not take an Isosorbide preparation without consulting their doctor. Concomitant use of erectile dysfunction drugs such as sildenafil, tadalafil, or vardenafil can cause severe hypotension or myocardial ischemia. Dose selection for an elderly patient should be cautious; it is best to start the treatment with the lowest possible dose of Isosorbide. This could reflect the greater frequency of decreased hepatic, cardiac or renal function. The heart & blood pressure medicine is not recommended for use in children. The drug may not be a safe option for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Therefore, it is important to discuss the risks and benefits of taking medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Dizziness, nausea, light-headedness, and flushing may occur. If any of these side effects become bothersome, tell your doctor straight away. Headache is a common side effect of Sorbitrate 5 mg. If headaches persist, your doctor may recommend a counter pain reliever to treat the condition. If the headache becomes severe, consult your doctor right away. Isosorbide preparation may increase the risk of dizziness and light-headedness. To reduce the risk, get up slowly from a sitting or lying position. A serious allergic reaction to this medicine is rare; however, it is important to seek immediate medical help if you notice signs of an allergic reaction such as severe dizziness, rash, itching, and trouble breathing. Discuss with your doctor if you develop side effects of the medicine.
