Olmesar A 5/20 mg is a prescription treatment for patients with hypertension (high blood pressure). It can be prescribed alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents to lower blood pressure. Controlling blood pressure reduces the risk of cardiovascular events, including strokes and myocardial infarctions. Olmesar A combines two active ingredients, namely Amlodipine and Olmesartan. It is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker and angiotensin II receptor blocker combination drug effective for lowering hypertension. The combination medicine is prescribed as initial therapy in patients likely to need multiple antihypertensive agents to achieve their blood pressure goals.

Lowering high blood pressure should be a part of comprehensive cardiovascular risk management, including diabetes management, lipid control, antithrombotic therapy, exercise, smoking cessation, and limited sodium intake. A lot of patients require more than one medication to achieve adequate blood pressure control. Numerous antihypertensive agents with a different mechanisms of action have been introduced to reduce cardiovascular mortality and morbidity. Olmesartan A may be given to provide additional blood pressure lowering for patients not adequately controlled with Amlodipine. The usual starting dose is 5/20 mg once per day. The dose can be increased after 1 to 2 weeks of therapy as needed to control blood pressure. Olmesartan A can cause excessive hypotension. Talk to your doctor for the correct dose.

Do not co-administer aliskiren with Olmesar A 5/20 mg in patients with diabetes. If a patient suffered recently from excessive vomiting or diarrhea, this drug might worsen the condition, therefore, consult your doctor before taking this medicine. Do not drive or use any machinery because using these Tablets may have a minor or moderate effect on your ability to drive and use machines. They may cause dizziness, so avoid driving and the use of machines while taking this drug. If you have a history of stroke or a recent heart attack, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Tell your doctor if you have side effects that bother you or do not go away. These include low blood pressure, fatigue, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, hives, itching, rash, migraine, cough, shortness of breath, blurred vision, very rapid and irregular heartbeat, brain attack (stroke), inflammation of the liver, reduced number of red blood cells (anaemia), reduced number of platelets, liver function abnormalities, muscle and joint pain, changes in kidney function, flu-like symptoms, back pain and urinary tract infection, sensitivity to light, unexplained weight gain, etc.
