Veltam F 0.4mg 5mg is a combination of Tamsulosin and Finasteride available to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and lower uterine symptoms (LUTS). BPH is a common disorder in older men that can cause urinary tract symptoms that decrease quality of life by interrupting sleep and daily activities. Treatment for BPH is generally directed towards the alleviation of lower urinary tract symptoms. Veltam F relieves symptoms, improves the quality of life, and prevents clinical disease progression and development of complications. It also lowers the risk of surgery to treat this condition. The active ingredients Tamsulosin and Finasteride are involved in the preparation of this combination drug. The combination drug reduces the amount of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) hormone in the body. This makes the prostate gland shrink, thus relieving urinary symptoms. Tamsulosin is an alpha-blocker, which causes relaxation of muscles around the bladder and prostate gland to allow easy passage of urine. Finasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that causes the prostate gland to shrink by decreasing the level of a hormone.

Take Veltam F should be consumed daily at the same time. Take the tablet whole, do not break or chew the tablet. Your doctor will prescribe the dose that is most suitable for you. Do not miss a dose even if you have no symptoms to gain the most benefit and treat your symptoms effectively. It may take up to four weeks to notice an improvement in the symptoms. Keep on taking medicine unless advised by your doctor. Let your doctor know if your symptoms do not improve after 4 weeks of usage or if they get worse. Take the combination medicine in dose and duration advised by your doctor. Swallow the pill with a glass of water.

Women or children should not use Veltam F. Men are advised to inform their doctor if they have low blood pressure, kidney, or liver disease. The medicine may not be suitable for some patients with certain medical conditions. It can also affect or be affected by other drugs, so it is important to let your doctor know of all other medicines. You may be advised to wear a condom during sex and to have your blood pressure checked frequently. Let your doctor know if you drink alcohol. Avoid the use entirely if you have allergies or are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Speak to your doctor if you have a blockage in the urinary tract, bladder infection, prostate cancer, problems of the bladder, or severe trouble urinating.

The most common side effects include ejaculation disorder, impotence, and low sexual desire.  If these unwanted effects become bothersome and do not resolve within a few days of initiating treatment, speak to your doctor for advice. Patients receiving this combination drug may also feel dizzy or drowsy. This risk is higher during the initial days of taking Veltam F.
