Ranozex XR 500 mg is prescribed to treat chronic angina (a type of chest pain) by improving blood flow. It should not be used for acute angina in the case of an emergency. Ranolazine is the main active ingredient in the drug Ranozex XR 500 mg; the mechanism action of Ranolazine is unknown, and it indirectly prevents the calcium overload that causes cardiac/myocardial ischemia.

Ranozex belongs to a category of drugs known as an anti-anginal medication, and it works by decreasing heart oxygen requirements by relaxing heart muscle. The medicine helps prevent new angina attacks but does not stop acute ones. Ranozex relieves chest pain by making the heart work more efficiently.

Your doctor will decide the right dosage for you. The usual recommended dose of this drug for adults is 500 mg twice or thrice daily with sufficient water. This medicine can be given along with the meal. Continue the treatment for the prescribed duration to get the maximum benefits from this medicine. Ranozex XR 500 mg is available in the form of a tablet to be consumed orally with a sufficient amount of water. Do not chew it.

Inform your doctor if:

   — Ranozex XR 500 mg cause a severe hypersensitive reaction; discuss your medical history with your doctor before taking any new medications to avoid fatal complications.

   — A patient has to undergo surgery; Anaesthesia can lead to low blood pressure if  the patient is taking this drug

   — Ranozex can contraindicate and cause drug interactions.

   — If you are pregnant or a breastfeeding mother

Ranolazine is known to have severe complications and some of the below-mentioned side effects:

   — Bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet

   — Continuous ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears

   — Difficult or labored breathing

   — Fast, irregular, pounding or racing heartbeat or pulse

   — The feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings

   — Hearing loss

   — Lightheadedness

   — Rapid weight gain

   — The sensation of spinning

   — Tightness in the chest

   — Tingling of the hands or feet

   — Unusual weight gains or loss
