Ranozex XR 500 mg is prescribed to treat chronic angina (a type of chest pain) by improving blood flow. It should not be used for acute angina in the case of an emergency. Ranolazine is the main active ingredient in the drug Ranozex XR 500 mg; the mechanism action of Ranolazine is unknown, and it indirectly prevents the calcium overload that causes cardiac/myocardial ischemia.
Ranozex belongs to a category of drugs known as an anti-anginal medication, and it works by decreasing heart oxygen requirements by relaxing heart muscle.
