Elocon 10gm cream 0.1% is for dermatological use. It contains the active ingredient mometasone furoate, a synthetic corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory activity. The medicine is put on the skin's surface to reduce the itchiness and redness caused by certain skin problems. In adults and children aged 2 to 18 years, Elocon is prescribed to reduce redness and itchiness caused by certain skin issues called psoriasis or dermatitis. Psoriasis is a skin disorder in which pink, scaly patches appear on the scalp, elbows, knees, and other body parts. Dermatitis is a skin condition that develops as the skin reacts to outside agents example, detergents causing the skin to become red and itchy.
Elocon 10 gm cream is for use on the skin. Always use this topical medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Check with your doctor if you are not sure. The product is not recommended for children under the age of 2.
For adults, including older people and children two years of age and older, the recommended dose is a thin layer of this topical preparation gently applied to the affected areas of skin once daily. Normally, a pea size amount is enough to cover the affected area. Never apply more than this quantity or more often than your doctor advises.
It is recommended to apply the cream to the face, but do not use it for more than five days without the close supervision of your doctor. Avoid getting the solution to get into your eyes. Unless your doctor advises, do not apply a bandage or dressing to the treated area. This will increase absorption of the formulation and increase possible side effects.
