Elocon 10gm cream 0.1% is for dermatological use. It contains the active ingredient Mometasone furoate, a synthetic corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory activity. Talk to your dermatologist before or during treatment if any of the following affects you before or while using Asmanex or Elocon 10 gm cream:
‒ Corticosteroids can worsen a skin infection.
‒ If irritation develops with this Mometasone product, please notify your doctor immediately.
‒ When used in psoriasis, it may exacerbate the condition. You should let your doctor know to review your progress regularly, as treatment needs careful supervision.
‒ Application of Elocon to a large body area or under occlusion can increase the risk of the steroid being absorbed through the skin. If absorbed into the skin, Mometasone can cause side effects. If you need to apply the cream to a large area under dressings, nappy, or skin folds. Consult your dermatologist before applying the cream.
The topical formulation is not for use in children below two years of age. Inform your dermatologist if you use any other medicines, especially if you are taking medicines containing ritonavir (used to treat HIV infection), cobicistat, itraconazole (used to treat fungal infection) and ritonavir. You should not use this topical preparation on large areas of the body, for it may interfere with hormone production. In paediatric patients, it may affect their growth and development.
