Budez CR 3 mg contains the active substance budesonide, a class of medications known as corticosteroids. It is prescribed to reduce inflammation. The medicine is equally effective in treating Crohn’s disease; Budez capsules treat inflammation of the small bowel and first part of the large bowel. Your doctor may also prescribe this budesonide formulation to treat microscopic colitis. Colitis disease involves chronic inflammation of the large bowel, which is typical with chronic watery diarrhoea.

Always take Budez CR 3 mg the same way your doctor has prescribed to you. Talk to your doctor if you are not sure. Your doctor will tell you how many capsules to take, when and how often you need to take medicine. Swallow the capsules whole with a glass of water. For Crohn’s disease, the recommended dose for an attack is 3 capsules in the morning before breakfast. Normally, you may be asked to take this number of capsules for up to eight weeks. Your doctor will then gradually reduce the dose as per the patient’s condition. The medicine takes up to 2 to 4 weeks to have its full effects. Continue to take this number of capsules as your doctor has told you, even when you start feeling better.

For the treatment of microscopic colitis, you may be asked to take three capsules in the morning. At treatment discontinuation, the dose should be reduced for the last 2 to 4 weeks of therapy. For the maintenance of remission, take two capsules once daily in the morning. Corticosteroids are not recommended for children.

Do not take Budez CR capsules if you are allergic to budesonide or to any of the ingredients of this medicine. You should not be taking this Budesonide formulation if you have an infection. If you are not sure if any of the above applies to you. Talk to your doctor before taking Budez CR if you ever had tuberculosis, diabetes, high blood pressure, brittle bones, glaucoma, stomach ulcers, liver problems, and mental health problems. Contact your doctor if you develop blurred vision or other visual disturbances. Let your doctor know if you are taking other medicines.

Common side effects of Budez CR 3 mg are muscle cramps, heartburn, rash, itchy skin, pounding heartbeat, heavy or irregular periods in women, and low potassium levels in the blood. If you have an allergic reaction, see a doctor straight away. Mental health problems can happen while taking steroids like Budesonide capsules. Speak to your doctor if you show any signs of mental health issues. This is particularly important if you are depressed or have suicidal thoughts. Rarely, health problems have happened when high doses of Budez CR have been taken for a long time. Corticosteroids can affect the normal production of steroid hormones in your body. The effects include glaucoma, changes in bone mineral density, a slow rate of growth in children and adolescents, and an effect on the adrenal gland.
