Avanair 200 mg is a treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It contains the active substance Avanafil, which belongs to a class of medications known as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE) inhibitors. PDE5 inhibitors are currently the first-choice treatment options for the clinical management of erectile dysfunction of various aetiologies and severities. These drugs increase blood flow to the penis and help men to achieve an erection. Avanafil causes the relaxation of blood vessels in your penis, allowing more blood to flow towards the reproductive organ when you get sexually stimulated.

Avanair is not for use in women and children. It is not known if Avanafil is safe and effective in women or children under 18 years of age. Men should avoid using other medicine to treat erection problems without talking to a doctor. It can be dangerous to take this PDE5 inhibitor with medicines called nitrates (medicines used for chest pain). Do not take this ED medication if you have severe liver or heart problems, recently had a stroke or heart attack, or have low blood pressure. Inform your doctor if you suffer from many of these conditions or health problems before taking Avanair 200 mg. You should not drive if this drug makes you feel dizzy. Avoid consuming alcohol while taking a PDE5 inhibitor, as it could lead to side effects.

The most common side effects of Avanair 200 mg are flushing, headache, stuffy or runny nose, back pain, and sore throat. These are mild and temporary.

Avanafil may uncommonly cause:

   — Priapism (an erection that will not go away) - If you get an erection that lasts more than four hours, get immediate medical help.

   — Sudden loss of eyesight in one or both eyes - This can signify a serious eye problem. It is uncertain whether Avanair directly causes vision loss. Stop taking the medication and call your doctor immediately if you develop sudden vision loss in one or both eyes.

   — A sudden decrease in hearing or complete hearing loss - Some men may develop ringing in their ears or dizziness.
