Aten 25mg treats high blood pressure and chest pain in adults. It contains the active substance Atenolol, a class of medication known as Atenolol, a beta-blocker that works on the heart and blood vessels. The medicine causes your blood vessels to relax, which improves blood circulation to the heart. This way, the medicine reduces the heart’s workload allowing your heartbeat normally and with less force. Atenolol works by blocking beta-1 receptors present on the heart. This helps to prevent the activity of nerve chemicals adrenaline and noradrenaline on the heart. As a result, your heart beats slowly and pumps out lesser blood into blood vessels. This mechanism of action of Atenolol causes a significant reduction in blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Since the heart beats slower and with less force, it uses less energy, thus relieving chest pain and reducing the risk of a heart attack in such patients. Â
Always take Aten 25 mg as your doctor has told you. Your doctor will tell you how many tablets to take each day and how often you need to take them.
