Active Ingredient Entecavir

X Vir 1 mg is indicated for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus infection in adults 16 years of age or older. It contains the active ingredient Entecavir, a medication used to treat viral infections. Infection caused by HBV can contribute to liver damage. Entecavir reduces the amount of the virus in your body and has been shown to improve liver function. It may reduce the ability of HBV to multiply and affect newly formed liver cells. The medication will not cure the hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. Neither the medication stops you from spreading HBV to others by having sex, sharing needles, or being exposed to your blood. Patients should remain under the supervision of a healthcare provider during the treatment. Your doctor will conduct regular tests to check the levels of the hepatitis B Virus in your blood.

Usage instructions of Entecavir tabs

You may be instructed by your healthcare provider on the correct dosage of this medicine. You should discuss the new symptoms or concurrent medications with him. The medicine should be taken on an empty stomach (about two hours after a meal and two hours before the next meal). This medication helps control your condition but does not cure it. Therefore, you must continue taking it for as long as your doctor advises you. X Vir is an important medicine to improve the inflammation and scar tissue that occurs due to the hepatitis B virus in your liver and lower the chances of developing cirrhosis, liver failure and cancer of the liver. You should not stop taking Entecavir without consulting your healthcare provider. The safety of the medication when taken for an extended duration is not yet known. Worsening of liver disease may occur in some cases of treatment discontinuation, and patients should discuss any changes in dosing regimen with their healthcare specialist. One should be aware of the fact that treatment with X Vir is not effective enough in reducing the chances of transmission of HBV to others through blood contamination and sexual contact.

Dose adjustment of X Vir 1 mg is recommended for patients with renal insufficiency. Careful evaluation of kidney function should be done before and during the treatment in liver transplant recipients receiving tacrolimus and ciclosporin. The optimal duration of X Vir 1 mg for those who are suffering from chronic hepatitis B infection and the association between treatment and long-term outcomes, such as liver cancer and cirrhosis, is not known.

Precautions with Entecavir tabs

Do not take X Vir if you are allergic to Entecavir or any other ingredient in the medicine. The safety and effectiveness of this medication in children below the age of 16 years have not been established. The medication is excreted by the kidneys, and the risk of toxic reactions to this antiviral may be high in patients with reduced kidney function. Elderly patients are more likely to have impaired kidney function; therefore, careful dose selection is necessary, and monitoring kidney function is also beneficial.

X Vir should be used during pregnancy only if the benefits of taking this medicine are higher than the risk to the fetus. However, no evidence to show transmission of HBV from mother to infant. Therefore, appropriate intervention should be introduced to prevent neonatal transmission of HBV. The excretion of the medication in human milk is not known. Breastfeeding women should be instructed not to breastfeed while receiving this medication. Do not share personal items that carry your blood or have body fluids on them. Discuss with your healthcare provider about safe sexual practices that help to protect your partner. Avoid sharing needles with others. Also, avoid sharing personal items that have come into contact with blood or body fluids, such as razor blades or toothbrushes.

Let your healthcare provider know about all the medicines you are taking, including prescription, non-prescription, vitamins and herbal products. Entecavir may interact with other medicines and cause side effects. Always know the medicines you take. Carry a list of medicines with you to show your healthcare specialist. If you have HIV or human immunodeficiency virus, be sure to talk to your healthcare provider. Be cautious when driving a vehicle or operating complex machinery until you understand how this antiviral affects you.
