Rocas 1 mg is an immunosuppressive agent called Sirolimus required to prevent organ refusal in patients with kidney transplants in combination with corticosteroids and cyclosporine. The medicine is also used to inhibit rejection of heart transplants and for immune suppression of stem cell bone marrow transplants. The product is best used under the supervision of a health care specialist. It is prescribed to prevent organ rejection in patients over thirteen years who receive renal transplants. In patients with high immunologic risk, it is recommended to use in conjunction with cyclosporine and corticosteroids for the first twelve months following organ transplantation. Drug monitoring is required for all users of Sirolimus.

Rocas 1 mg is a prescription medicine to prevent organ rejection in patients who need a kidney transplant. It prevents your body from rejecting a transplanted kidney. The medicine is also sold under the brand name Rapamune.

Take Rocas 1 mg daily with water, consistently without regard to food. Patients must take Sirolimus tablets only under the supervision of a physician who has experience with immunosuppression in organ transplant recipients and can suggest necessary follow-up treatment. The patient should take the initial dose after transplantation and four hours after cyclosporine. It is smart to fix an appointment with your health care specialist and discuss the usage of Rocas 1 mg. Your physician will recommend the dose and duration that best suits your condition. You need to follow his/her instructions on how to take the Sirolimus tablet. In any case, stick to the dosing regimen recommended by your physician.

Do not take Rocas 1 mg if you are allergic to Sirolimus or have a history of health problems like liver disease, lung problem, or if you are using any other prescription medicines or OTC products, especially erythromycin rifabutin, parconazole, mifepristone, or voriconazole. Sirolimus is associated with a high risk of infection, cancer of the lymph nodes, and other malignancies due to high levels of immunosuppression. Avoid sun exposure as this may increase the risk of skin cancer. Patients suffering from cognitive deficiencies or ataxia should consult their physician before taking Sirolimus tablet. In pregnant women, the medicine is issued only when the potential benefit outweighs the risk to the fetus. Generally, a reduced maintenance dose is prescribed to patients with hepatic impairment.

Some side effects of Rocas 1 mg include diarrhea, stomach pain, constipation, abdominal pain, trouble sleeping, bruising, blurred vision, dry mouth, fatigue, headache and sore throat. You must tell your health care specialist if any of these persist for a long time or interfere with your daily routine. Also, seek immediate medical help in case the side effects are severe or if you notice any other severe complications such as hives, rash, itching, cracked or scaly skin, swollen skin, breathing issues, or swelling of the face lips, eyes, throat, or tongue. Information given here may vary from your health care physician’s advice. Taking the tablet with grapefruit juice will block the effects of Sirolimus; hence avoid using it during the treatment.
