  • Your abnormal (cancer) cells have certain changes in the EGFR gene.

Erlocip contains the active ingredient Erlotinib, categorized under the drug class epidermal growth receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors. The class of medication is especially discovered to treat cancer. Erlotinib prevents the action of a certain protein called epidermal growth factor receptor or EGFR. This protein is believed to be involved in the growth and spread of cancer cells. It should be used under the guidance of a doctor. Do not take it if you are hypersensitive to Erlotinib or any other ingredients of the medicine. For best results, use it under the guidance of a doctor. The anticancer drug has not been studied in patients with severe hepatic or renal insufficiency.

The usual dose to treat non-small cell lung cancer at an advanced stage is one 150 mg tablet each day. Swallow the capsule with a glass full of water. Make sure you follow all the instructions given by your doctor. Check with your doctor if you are not sure about the correct dosage.

If diarrhoea occurs, drink plenty of water throughout the day to avoid dehydration if you have trouble drinking liquid due to severe nausea or vomiting. Please call your doctor straight away. Avoid pregnancy while receiving this Erlotinib formulation. If you are likely to get pregnant, use adequate contraceptive measures during the treatment and at least two weeks after taking the medication. If you get pregnant during the treatment, inform your doctor right away. Smoking can reduce the effectiveness of your cancer medication.

Erlocip 150 mg should be used under medical supervision. You may not receive this anticancer drug if you have severely reduced liver/kidney function.

Do not smoke during the treatment because smoking could decrease this anticancer drug in the bloodstream. Take this medicine at least an hour before or two hours after meals. Avoid concomitant use of this cancer medication with statins because it may increase the risk of cramps, muscle pain, and tenderness. Before taking this medicine, let your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

The most common side effects of taking this anticancer medication are skin rash, stomach pain, depression, weight loss, headache, and nausea. Call your doctor right away if any of these above symptoms worsen or persist for a longer duration. Anticancer medicine is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney or liver disease. Also, the safety and efficacy of Erlotinib have not been established in adolescents under 18 years of age. Discuss with your doctor before taking this anticancer medicine.
