Description of the drug:

Mycophenolate Mofetil is related to a group of medicines known for having immunosuppressive agents. This medicine used with other medicines to lower the body's natural immunity in patients who undergo organ transplant surgeries belonging to kidney, heart, or liver.

When a patient undergoes an organ transplant, his or her body's white blood cells will try to eject with the transplanted organ. Mycophenolate works to prevent the white blood cells from the transplanted organ. This drug can weaken your immune system that ultimately decreases the body’s capacity to fight illness or infection. The risk of certain types of cancer like lymphoma may also be increased by this drug.

Indications and Usage:

Mycophenolate Mofetil is available in Renodapt S. usually, it’s taken with the combination of other drugs and it decreases the activity of certain cells in order to combat the risk of organ transplant rejection.

- Recommended dose

The appropriate dose of Mycophenolate Mofetil is decided by a doctor. Its dose depends upon the need to prevent you from rejecting your transplant organ. Under kidney transplant, adults should be given the first dose within 3 days of the transplant operation. Its daily dose is 4 tablets – 2 separate doses in a day.

For children and adolescents (aged 2 to 18 years), its dose depends on their body size. Generally, 600 mg/m2 twice a day is recommended for children. Mycophenolate Mofetil tablets should not be given for kidney transplant patients under 2 years of age.

Adults having undergone heart transplant are given this drug 5 days within the operation (6 tablets should be taken in 2 separate doses every day).

Children and adolescents are not recommended to take this medication with a health transplant or liver transplant.
