Pyridium 200 mg is mainly used to treat urinary tract disorders such as frequent urine disorders, an urgency to urinate, pain, burning sensation and other discomforts that occur with certain infections of either the urinary tract or associated with surgery, trauma etc. Phenazopyridine is the main active ingredient in the drug Pyridium 200 mg.
Pyridium should only be used for symptomatic pain relief, not as a substitute for other treatments. It is not an antibiotic. Pyridium blocks pain signals from the nerves to the brain, decreasing the pain sensation.
This is a prescription medication, and the dosage may vary in patients considering the severity. The recommended dose of this drug for adults is 200 mg thrice daily with enough water. This medicine can be given along with the meal. The dose should be changed as per the patient's response towards the tablet, but only under the supervision of your doctor. Consult your physician after a regular time interval of 3 to 4 weeks.

Pyridium200 mg drug is reported to contraindicate in the following cases:
— Left ventricular failure
— Hypersensitive towards the drug
— Cardiogenic shock
Pyridium can interact with minoxidil, dapsone, nitric oxide, prilocaine, and sodium nitrite.
