Prazopress 2 mg is used to treat hypertension to lower blood pressure. Reducing blood pressure causes a significant reduction in the risk of cardiovascular complications, primarily strokes and myocardial infarction. Prazopress contains Prazosin, which causes the relaxation of blood vessels and reduces the resistance to blood circulation so that blood can flow smoothly without any obstruction.   

The route for the administration of Prazopress 2 mg is oral. It can be taken with or without food. The tablet should be swallowed whole with enough water. Patients should not chew, divide, or crush the tablet. The dose should be adjusted as per the patient’s blood pressure response.   

Prazopress 2 mg is contraindicated in patients with known sensitivity to Prazosin or other medicine ingredients. Before taking a Prazosin tablet, inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease. Prazopress may cause complications during surgeries, such as cataracts; therefore, let your healthcare provider know if you are undergoing eye operations.

Prazosin is not recommended for the treatment of children under the age of twelve years. The ability to engage in activities such as operating machinery or driving a vehicle may be affected, especially when initiating prazosin therapy. Prazosin should be used cautiously in pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and older adults. Avoid consuming alcohol during the treatment because it may cause light-headedness, dizziness, or fainting.  

Serious side effects include first-dose hypotension (very low blood pressure); therefore, taking the initial dose at night is recommended. Some patients may develop orthostatic hypotension and syncope. Common side effects of Prazosin are headaches, dizziness, lack of energy, palpitations, nausea, weakness, and drowsiness. Seek immediate medical help if any of these symptoms bother you.
