Active Ingredient Pimecrolimus

Pacroma 1% Cream is indicated for the treatment of signs and symptoms of mild and moderate eczema (atopic dermatitis). It treats redness and itch in children. When used for the treatment of signs and symptoms, it can help prevent progression of the disease to severe flare-ups.

Pacroma contains the active ingredient Pimecrolimus, which specifically treats inflammation of the skin. The exact mechanism of action is not known yet. However, it is thought that the immune system is involved. Pimecrolimus can be used as a short-term treatment for severe eczema when other treatments are not effective or are not appropriate. It is typically used for a maximum of eight weeks, but can effectively improve the appearance of your skin and help you get rid of symptoms like pain and itching. This helps to improve your sleep and concentration.

Usage instructions for Pimecrolimus cream

Use Pacroma 1% cream exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Discontinue treatment when the symptoms of eczema, such as rash and itchiness, occur after a bath or shower, or as instructed by the dermatologist. Rinse your hands before using the cream. If you wish to apply the topical formulation, after bath or shower, make sure you apply the product to dry skin.

Apply a thin layer of medication all over the affected area twice daily as advised. The smallest amount of the medication is to be used to help control the symptoms of eczema. If you apply Pacroma cream to another person who has eczema, or if you have eczema and are not treating your hands, it is necessary to rinse your hands with soap and water after applying the cream. This should remove any traces of cream on your hands.

Do not bathe, take a shower, or swim after applying Pimecrolimus. You can apply moisturiser with Pacroma cream. Talk to your dermatologist about the products that are right for you. People suffering from eczema can have very dry skin; therefore, it is important to follow a good skincare regimen. If you use moisturiser, apply it after Pimecrolimus.

Things to remember while using Pimecrolimus cream

Do not use Pacroma 1% if you are allergic to Pimecrolimus or any other ingredients of the medicine.  Do not smoke or go near naked flames because of severe burns. Any fabric that has been in contact with this medication burns more easily and is a serious fire hazard.

Avoid using sun lamps, tanning beds, or receiving treatment with ultraviolet light therapy during Pimecrolimus treatment. Limit your sun exposure even when the medication is not on your skin. If you need to step out in the sun after applying the cream, wear loose-fitting clothes that protect the treated area against the ultraviolet rays of the sun. You can discuss with your dermatologist about the other types of protection from the sun that you should use. It is unknown whether the pimecrolimus cream may affect your skin when exposed to ultraviolet light. Do not cover the treated skin area with dressings, wraps or bandages. Try to wear normal clothing. Do not get Pacroma cream in your eyes, nose, mouth, rectum, or vagina. If you get this topical medication in any of these areas, burning or irritation may occur. Wipe off the extra formulation from the affected area and then wash out the area well with cold water. Do not swallow the topical medication; if you do, seek immediate medical help. Also, avoid applying to skin areas that have skin cancers or precancers.
