Oncotrex 7.5 mg is a medicine used to decrease the activity of the immune system for people who have certain conditions. It is used to treat a wide range of cancers. It can also be given to patients with rheumatoid arthritis, severe psoriasis, and Crohn’s disease. The main function of the immune system is to protect the body against infectious diseases by inducing inflammation to combat them. Inflammation can contribute to heat, swelling, redness, and pain. But in some cases, the immune system can attack its body parts by mistakenly attacking them.
Oncotrex 7.5 mg is indicated for the treatment of cancer in various parts of the body. It contains the active ingredient Methotrexate, which slows down the growth of cancer cells in the body. It effectively treats a range of cancers, such as non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, acute leukaemias, and solid tumours found in the head, neck, breast, lung, bladder, as well as ovarian, cervical, and testicular cancer. It may be given alone or combined with other medicines. Â
Methotrexate treats rheumatoid arthritis when patients fail to respond to other treatments. As a second-line treatment, Oncotrex acts by suppressing the immune system, which helps to cause a significant reduction in stiffness and pain and improves joint function. Â Â Â Â Â Â
For uncontrolled psoriasis, Oncotrex 7.5 mg may be given when other treatments have not worked. Â Methotrexate works by destroying the fast-growing cells in psoriasis patients. Oncotrex also helps to provide relief in inflammatory diseases of the intestines. Commonly reported symptoms of the condition include diarrhoea and pain in the abdomen. Methotrexate helps to relieve the symptoms by reducing inflammation and preventing them from coming back.

Methotrexate Oncotrex 7.5 mg can be used as a monotherapy or may be combined with other medicines. You should take the medication exactly as prescribed by your healthcare professional. Do not take Oncotrex 7.5 mg if you have had a hypersensitivity reaction to Methotrexate in the past. Get immediate medical help straight away if you develop any of the signs or symptoms of a severe allergic reaction. Oncotrex 7.5 mg may reduce your ability to fight off infection and contribute to health issues related to the liver, kidneys, or blood. You may undergo several tests, including blood tests, physical examinations, and X-rays, both before and during the treatment with Methotrexate, to check for any problems. Â
Before you take this formulation, let your healthcare provider know if you have problems related to the liver, kidney, or stomach, or are taking any other medications to treat infections. Certain other medications can affect or be affected by this medication. Such medications include antibiotics (trimethoprim, tetracyclines, co-trimoxazole, ciprofloxacin, and some forms of penicillin), asthma medications (theophylline), epilepsy medicine (phenytoin and levetiracetam), medicines for indigestion (omeprazole), diuretics (indapamide and Bendroflumethiazide), and over-the-counter or herbal medicines.
Use of Methotrexate is prohibited for pregnant women or breastfeeding women as it may harm the baby. One should avoid consuming alcohol during the treatment as it may increase the risk of liver damage.Â
Side effects of Methotrexate tabs

The most commonly reported side effects of Oncotrex 7.5 mg tablets are hair loss, ulcerative stomatitis, increased liver enzymes, abdominal distress, nausea, and low blood cell count. You may be advised to take a folic acid supplement to reduce some of these side effects. If they do not resolve or get worse, you should inform your healthcare professional right away. There may be ways to reduce or prevent these adverse effects. Â
People who take Methotrexate have an increased risk of developing infections that can be severe and life-threatening. These infections may include fungal, bacterial, or viral infections, such as hepatitis B infection, pneumonia, and invasive fungal infections. Other serious side effects include brain and spinal cord problems, tumour lysis syndrome and possible fertility problems in males and females.
