Odoxil 125 mg tablets are used for the treatment of bacterial infections. It effectively treats ear, mouth, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissues. It carries the active ingredient cefadroxil, which improves the symptoms by killing bacteria that cause infections in the body. Â
Odoxil 125 mg must be taken with meals to avoid unwanted gastrointestinal side effects. Swallow the pill with a glass full of water. Your healthcare provider will decide the suitable dose for your child, depending on their age, weight as well as the severity of the infection. Cefadroxil is excreted by the kidney, and dose adjustment is indicated for patients with kidney impairment. Because elderly patients are at high risk of having decreased renal function, care should be taken when selecting the dose, and it may be helpful to monitor renal function.Â
Odoxil 125 mg should not be used if you are hypersensitive to penicillin antibiotics (such as ampicillin or amoxicillin) or have severe renal impairment.
Talk to your healthcare professional:
   –  If you develop a fever or weakness, this antibiotic is known to cause a decrease in white blood cells. Hence, you may develop repeated infections.
  –  To get your white blood cell tested. If you develop breathing problems, chest tightness, facial swelling, and rashes, immediately visit your doctor’s place, as these side effects can be life-threatening.
  –  If you notice blood in your urine or back pain
Cefadroxil may interact with other medicines. These include antibiotics, medicines to treat gout, blood pressure, and blood thinners.
Commonly reported side effects of Odoxil 125 mg are nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and stomach pain. These side effects may probably be reduced if cefadroxil tablet is taken along with meals. However, seek immediate medical help if these side effects bother you. Â
