Januvia 100 mg is an antidiabetic medicine used as monotherapy to lower blood sugar in people with Type 2 diabetes. It is used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to achieve blood sugar control in adult patients for whom metformin (an antidiabetic medication) is inappropriate due to intolerance or contraindications.
As an add-on combination, Januvia is prescribed for adult patients with type 2 diabetes to control blood sugar levels in conjunction with metformin, metformin and a sulfonylurea, or pioglitazone (alone or with metformin), or premixed or long-acting insulin (alone or with metformin). All these combination treatments are applicable when the existing therapy, along with diet and exercise, is not able to provide adequate glycemic control. The active ingredient in medicine is Sitagliptin, which causes your body to produce more of the insulin hormone. This helps lower your blood sugar levels.
