Generic For Aromasin
Manufacturer Onko, Turkey
Active Ingredient Exemestane

Exetu 25 mg is a prescription medicine used as an additional treatment for breast cancer in women who have gone through natural menopause and have been previously treated with Tamoxifen for 2 to 3 years. It is also effective in cases of advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal females who had been previously treated with an antiestrogen like Tamoxifen. This additional treatment is required after primary treatment. The reason for prescribing an additional therapy is that after surgery, some malignant cells may remain in the body, which continues to multiply and spread. This additional therapy is prescribed at this point in the stage to prevent or delay these cells from multiplying and spreading.

Exetu contains the active ingredient Exemestane, which is known to interfere with a substance called aromatase required to make estrogen (a female hormone), especially in postmenopausal women. The use of Exemestane causes a significant reduction in the amount of estrogen in the body, which is extremely helpful because estrogen may affect the growth of certain types of cancer cells.

The use of estrogen-lowering agents, like Exemestane, may contribute to bone loss. Women who are more likely to get heart disease should be carefully monitored by their healthcare provider. If you have been using Tamoxifen and Warfarin and switched to Exetu, your dose of warfarin may need to be adjusted.
