Active Ingredient Empagliflozin

Empamore tablets 25 mg are indicated to lower blood sugar in adults with type II diabetes. It is often prescribed in combination with diet and exercise to achieve glycemic control in such patients. By achieving adequate sugar control, the risk of cardiovascular-related deaths in adults with type 2 diabetes who have known cardiovascular disease can be effectively reduced. Empamore is prescribed to treat heart failure in adult patients with the appearance of symptoms due to impaired heart function. The active ingredient of the medicine is Empagliflozin, which works by preventing glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, thereby increasing the amount of glucose excretion in the urine. This process helps to lower sugar levels in the bloodstream.

The usage methods of Empagliflozin tablets includes:

‒    For the treatment of type 2 diabetes, the usual suggested dose is 10 mg once a day as monotherapy and as a combination treatment with other medicinal products for treating diabetes mellitus in adults. For those who can tolerate a 10 mg dose and need tighter glycemic control, the dose may be increased to 25 mg once a day. The daily maximum dose should not exceed 25 mg.

‒    For the treatment of heart failure, the generally recommended dose is 10 mg once a day.

‒    For patients with chronic kidney disease, the usual recommended dose is 10 mg once a day.

‒    For patients with renal insufficiency: Due to the limited availability of clinical evidence, it is not suggested to start treatment with this antidiabetic medicine in patients with moderate to severe kidney impairment as in diabetic, teh glucose-lowering effect of teh medication can be reduced in patients with moderate to severe kidney issues.

For all indications, when Empamore is given along with a sulphonylurea (another oral antidiabetic agent) or with insulin (diabetes medicine), a comparatively reduced dose of the sulphonylurea and insulin may significantly reduce blood sugar levels.

If you miss a dose, you must take it as soon as you remember. However, a double dose should not be used on the same day.

Do not take  Empamore tablets 25 mg if you have a history of hypersensitivity towards Empagliflozin or other inactive ingredients of the medicine.

Contact your healthcare provider right away if any of the following applies to you:

‒    Ketoacidosis: If you experience rapid weight loss, stomach pain, excessive thirst, feeling sick or being sick, confusion, fast and deep breathing, unusual sleepiness or tiredness, a sweet or metallic taste in your mouth, a sweet smell to your breath, or a very different odour in your sweat and urine, contact a healthcare provider straight away. These could be the signs of ketoacidosis., which is a serious, life-threatening condition you can develop because of an excessive amount of ketones in your urine or blood detected in a laboratory test. The risk of getting this deadly condition increases with prolonged fasting, dehydration, excessive alcohol intake, sudden reduction in insulin dose, or a higher requirement of insulin dose due to a serious injury or illness.

Do talk to your healthcare specialist before you take this medicine as well as during the entire treatment:

‒    If you have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. The type of diabetes usually begins at a young age, and during this condition, a patient's body does not produce insulin at all. The use of Empagliflozin tablet is not recommended in case of Type 1 diabetes.

‒    If you have serious liver problems, you may be advised to take a different dose.

‒    You might be at risk of dehydration. For example:

‒    If you are sick, have fever or diarrhoea, or are not able to eat or drink. Your healthcare provider may ask you to stop taking Empamore tablets until you recover to prevent loss of excessive bloody fluid. Discuss ways to prevent dehydration.
