Duova Rotacaps 18mcg/12mcg is a combination prescription drug to relieve breathing problems in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This long-standing lung disease causes shortness of breath and coughing. It is also used to treat wheezing, coughing, and breathing difficulties associated with respiratory conditions such as COPD.
Duova Rotacaps comprises two active pharmaceutical ingredients called Tiotropium Bromide and Formoterol Fumarate. Tiotropium is an anticholinergic agent that acts on the smooth muscles of the airways and inhibits the effects of acetylcholine, thereby preventing airway contraction. This, in turn, opens the airways in the lungs and makes it easier to get air in and out, whereas Formoterol is a long-acting beta agonist. It helps relax the muscles of the airways and widens them to facilitate easier breathing.

The dosage will be determined as per the patient's condition; therefore, it is advised to take this medication as directed by your healthcare specialist. Duova is available as Rotacaps and should not be swallowed; it is to be taken by inhalation only through a Rotahaler. Take the clean Rotahaler and insert the Rotacaps capsule into it, keeping it upright. Then rotate it to a horizontal position to open the capsule shell. Then, gently breathe out fully, place the mouthpiece between your lips, take a full, deep breath in through your mouth, and hold it for up to ten seconds. After that, take a normal breath and discard the empty capsule shell.
Always take this medication as prescribed by your health care professional. If you miss one or more doses, take the next dose at the scheduled time. Do not take a double dose at one time. The overdose of any drug can cause severe effects. The overdose of any medicine will cause you adverse effects, and sometimes it may be poisonous too. In any case of an overdose, you should contact your doctor right away.

Duova Rotacaops 18mcg/12mcg should not be used in patients who are hypersensitive to the active ingredient or any other component of this formulation. It should not be given to a pregnant woman or to those who are planning to get pregnant in the near future. A breastfeeding mother must not take this medication, as there is a possibility of passing this medication through breast milk. Before you use Duova 18/12mcg rotacaps, inform your healthcare specialist if you have seizures, epilepsy, or liver disease. Kidney disease, thyroid disorders, glaucoma, liver disorder, enlarged prostate or difficulty in urination. Also, please inform your healthcare specialist of any current medications, especially other inhalers, corticosteroids, or beta blockers.    Â

Like all medicines, Duova Rotacaps 18mcg/12mcg may cause adverse effects ranging from mild to moderate. Common side effects of Duova Rotacaps include cough, sore throat, muscle cramps, palpitations or increased heart rate, dry mouth, headache, dizziness, constipation, tremors, or nervousness. The medication can contribute to serious side effects as well. These include chest pain, trouble breathing, or allergic reactions such as severe rash, severe dizziness, or swelling. These adverse effects are rare but require immediate medical help.Â
