Generic Name Voriconazole
Manufacturer Natco Pharma, INDIA

Vorizol 200 mg is a prescription medicine for serious fungal infections in your blood and body. It contains the active ingredient Voriconazole, which belongs to a group of medicines known as antifungals. It works by stopping the growth of fungus in patients with fungal infections. Voriconazole destroys the fungal cell membrane.

Your healthcare specialist will determine your dose depending on your weight and the type of infection you have. Furthermore, depending on your response to treatment, your healthcare provider may increase the daily dose. Tablets must only be given if the child can swallow pills. Take the tablet at least an hour before or after a meal. Swallow the pill with a glass full of water. Continue taking this medicine until advised. Patients with a weakened immune system or those with infections that are tough to treat may require long-term treatment to prevent the recurrence of infection.

Do not take Vorizol 200 mg if you are allergic to Voriconazole or any of the other ingredients of this formulation.

You must inform your healthcare provider if you are taking or recently have taken any other medicines, even those obtained with a prescription or herbal products. The medicines that should not be included during your course of Voriconazole include cisapride, astemizole, carbamazepine, ivabradine, pimozide, efavirenz, sirolimus, phenobarbital, rifampicin, terfenadine, ritonavir, quinidine, lurasidone, etc.

Seek immediate medical attention if you are dealing with liver disease. If you have a liver disorder, you may be prescribed a low dose of this medicine. Pre-inform your doctor if you are known to have cardiomyopathy, a slow heart rate, an irregular heartbeat, or an abnormal electrocardiogram. You should not come in contact with direct sunlight and sun exposure while receiving Voriconazole. Be sure to cover sun-exposed skin and use a good quality sunscreen with a high sun protection factor, as an increased skin sensitivity to the sun's ultraviolet rays can occur. These precautions are also applicable to children.

Visit your doctor if you develop signs of adrenal insufficiency where the adrenal gland can't produce enough certain steroid hormones, such as cortisol, which may contribute to symptoms such as muscle weakness, weight loss, chronic or long-lasting fatigue, abdominal pain, and loss of appetite. Voriconazole should not be given to children younger than two years of age.

This medicine's most reported side effects include nausea, vomiting, rash, and headache. These are not usually serious, but you should seek immediate medical help if you think you might have a serious allergic reaction. Signs of this include throat, lips, or face swelling, breathing problems, nausea, and dizziness. Get emergency help if this happens.
