Trajenta 5 mg is a prescription medicine used to lower blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It works best when used with diet and exercise. The medicine is not for people with type 1 diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis. Trajenta contains the active ingredient Linagliptin which belongs to a group of medications known as oral antidiabetics. Antidiabetic agents are effective in treating high blood sugar levels. They act by helping the body control the level of sugar in your bloodstream. The antidiabetic agent is given to adults with Type 2 diabetes if the condition cannot be adequately controlled with a single antidiabetic agent as Metformin or sulfonylureas or diet and exercise alone. Your doctor may prescribe Linagliptin with other antidiabetic medicines such as Metformin, sulphonylureas, empagliflozin, or insulin. It is important to keep following the diet restrictions, exercise, and related advice that your doctor has given.

Take Trajenta exactly as your doctor has prescribed to you. Speak to your doctor if you have any doubts about the usage of this antidiabetic agent. Be sure to follow the directions given by your doctor. You may take the tablet before or after consuming food. Your doctor may prescribe Linagliptin in combination with another oral antidiabetic agent. The recommended dose is 5 mg once a day. To achieve the best results, stick to your doctor’s instructions.

Do not take Trajenta 5 mg if you are hypersensitive to Linagliptin or any other ingredients of the medicine. Speak to your doctor if you have type 1 diabetes. Trajenta should not be used to treat this condition. If you are taking an antidiabetic agent such as glimepiride, or glipizide, your doctor may reduce your dose of these medications when you take it together with Linagliptin to avoid episodes of Hypoglycaemia. Antidiabetic medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents under eighteen years of age. You should talk to your doctor if you are using medications such as phenytoin, phenobarbital, carbamazepine, or rifampicin.

Some symptoms need immediate medical help. You should discontinue treatment and see your doctor immediately if you experience symptoms such as blurred vision, anxiety, sweating, trembling, tingling lips, paleness, mood change or confusion. Hypoglycaemia may occur when Trajenta is used together with Metformin and a sulphonylurea. Some patients have experienced allergic reactions while receiving Linagliptin alone or in combination with other medicinal products to treat diabetes, which may be serious, including wheezing and shortness of breath. If you develop any of the signs of the illness, discontinue treatment and call your doctor straight away. Your doctor may prescribe a medicine to treat your allergic reaction and a different medicine for Type 2 diabetes. People taking this antidiabetic agent may also experience inflammation of the pancreas while taking Linagliptin alone or other medicinal products to treat diabetes two diabetes mellitus. Discontinue treatment if you develop severe and persistent pain in the abdomen, which might reach your back as it could indicate pancreatitis.
