Tenof EM 300/200 mg Tablet is often prescribed to treat HIV (human immunodeficiency virus), responsible for causing AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). This medicine belongs to a group of medicines called antiretrovirals. AIDS patients take it to control infection and improve the function of the immune system.

Tenof EM Tablet can decrease the amount of human immunodeficiency virus in the body, lowering the risk of HIV-related complications and other conditions, including cancer and serious infections. Tenof EM is a combination of two drugs – Emtricitabine and Tenofovir disoproxil. Emtricitabine works as a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor, and Tenofovir disoproxil is a nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor. This medicine works by changing the function of nucleotide and nucleoside reverse transcriptase enzymes that are responsible for the reproduction of HIV.

If you are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine, it is better to avoid or take expert advice before taking it. People living with health conditions like hepatitis B and kidney or liver problems should take necessary precautions. The most important thing is that Tenof EM tablet does not prevent the spread of HIV infection, so don’t forget to take precautions while having sex. Those women who are pregnant or expected to conceive should avoid breastfeeding during the medication course. This medicine is not recommended for children below 12 years. If you experience any inflammation or sign of serious infection during medication, consult your doctor as soon as possible.

There are some common side effects of this medicine that include:

• Dizziness
• Nausea
• Diarrhoea
• Weakness
• Vomiting
• Rash

 These side effects are not serious, but you must consult your doctor if you experience any of them regularly and severely. AIDS patients are at the risk of losing bone density, a condition called osteoporosis, and body mass for a long period. Such patients are advised to take vitamin D supplements along with Tenof EM Tablet.
