Siromus is available in tablet form consisting of 1 mg strength. Each 2 mg coated tablet contains the active ingredient Sirolimus, which displays a novel mechanism of immunosuppressive action. Siromus 1 mg is a medicine used to prevent the body from rejecting a newly transplanted kidney. It is an appropriate treatment for adults who are at a low to moderate risk of rejection. Doctors may recommend Sirolimus with other drugs used to prevent organ rejection. You may get Sirolimus with ciclosporin and corticosteroids for two to three months. The immunosuppressive drug can then be used for continuing treatment with corticosteroids. It is a critical dose drug requiring therapeutic drug monitoring for optimal outcomes.

Siromus 1 mg should only be used for the prevention of organ rejection. Treatment should begin and remain under the guidance of a specialist who is qualified in transplantation. The immunosuppressive drug should be administered as soon as possible after transplantation. The dose should be used once daily until results of therapeutic monitoring of the medicinal products are available. To minimize variability, you may be asked to take Sirolimus simultaneously with ciclosporin, four hours after the ciclosporin dose and consistently either before or after consuming food.

For maintenance therapy, ciclosporin should be progressively discontinued over 4 to 8 weeks, and the sirolimus dose should be adjusted as per the condition. Therapeutic monitoring of the medicine and dose adjustment is required to maintain the results. For more information associated with maintenance therapy, please consult a doctor. Also, dose adjustment is required for patients with hepatic insufficiency.

Siromus 1 mg should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the inactive ingredients of the medicine. It has not been adequately studied in renal transplant patients at high immunological risk; therefore, use is not recommended in this category of patients. In kidney transplant patients with delayed graft function, Sirolimus may delay recovery of kidney function. Sirolimus may affect the mode of action of other medicines, and other medicines may affect the way your immunosuppressive drugs work.

The most common side effects of Siromus 1 mg in patients with renal transplants include diarrhoea, nausea, high blood pressure, fever, pain, low platelet count, high blood sugar, low blood cell count, and urinary tract infection.
