US Brand Name Risedronate
Strength 35mg
Generic Name Risedronate

Risofos 35 mg is used to treat bone disease. It contains the active ingredient Risedronate which belongs to a group of medicines called bisphosphonates. Risedronate works directly on your bones, making them stronger, therefore, less likely to break. Risofos 25 mg is a once-weekly tablet used to treat osteoporosis (brittle or fragile bones that may break or fracture easily). It is also useful in treating osteoporosis caused by taking steroids. This medicine works by slowing down the process of old bones being removed. This allows the bone-forming cells time to rebuild normal bone.

Risedronate is also effective in rebuilding bone mass that is less likely to fracture. Therefore, this medicine can help reverse the progression of osteoporosis.

For osteoporosis, the usual dose is 35 mg tablet once a week. This medicine should be taken every week. Carefully follow all directions given to you by your doctor. If you do not understand the instructions given on your prescription, call your doctor immediately or visit your doctor. Take the tablet in the morning at least half an hour before your first meal. This medicine is most effective when your stomach is empty. Take the pill while sitting or standing position. Do not lie down immediately after consuming the medicine. Swallow the pill with a glass full of water. Do not chew or crush the tablet.

It is important to take medicine with water. Do not take the tablet with drinks like fruit juices, tea, and coffee, as this can reduce the effect of Risedronate. Continue taking medicine for as long as your doctor prescribes it.

Do not take Risfos if you have an allergy to Risedronate or any ingredient present in the formulation. You should also avoid taking Risofos if you have hypoglycemia or cannot stand or sit straight for at least half an hour. Do not take Risedronate if you are pregnant unless you and your doctor have discussed the risks and benefits.

Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any medical conditions such as vitamin D deficiency, parathyroid hormone abnormalities, and ulcers. Moreover, some medicines may interfere with each other if consumed at the same time. These include antacids, other products containing calcium, and iron supplements. Your doctor may have more information on medicines to be careful with while taking Risedronate. If you need a dental procedure, tell your doctor you are taking Risofos 35 mg. Invasive dental procedures should be avoided when possible.

Common side effects of Risofoz include diarrhea, nausea, runny nose, sore throat, dizziness, aching muscles, and stomach pain. These side effects are usually mild. Seek medical help if you notice a skin rash, redness of the skin, lured vision, problems with your jaw or teeth associated with delayed healing, chest pain, difficulty swallowing, worsening heartburn, or infection often following a tooth extraction or dental surgery.
