Olvance 40 mg is used for the treatment of hypertension alone or with other antihypertensive agents. It contains the active substance Olmesartan medoxomil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker, which cause blood vessels to relax, thus lowers blood pressure. The medicine is effective in adults and children, and adolescents aged 6 to 18 years of age. High blood pressure can damage blood vessels in organs such as the brain, kidneys, heart, and eyes. In some cases, the condition may lead to kidney failure, blindness, stroke, or heart attack. Most patients having high blood pressure has no symptoms. It is important to get your blood pressure checked to prevent damage from occurring. High blood pressure can be controlled with medications such as Olmesartan tablets. Â
Always take Olvance 40 mg, as your doctor has told you. You must consult your doctor if you have doubts about the usage of the medicine. If your blood pressure is not controlled, your doctor may decide to prescribe Olmesartan 40 once a day. There is a need to adjust doses in case of mild to moderate kidney disease. Take the tablet with food, swallow it with a glass full of water. Your doctor may prescribe a lower dose for children and adolescents from 6 to less than 18 years of age once daily. If the patient’s blood pressure is not adequately controlled, the doctor may increase the dose once daily. In children, the dose usually depends upon the weight of the patient.
Do not take Olvance 40 if you are allergic to its active ingredient Olmesartan. If you are more than three months pregnant, have diabetes, or have suffered from yellowing of the skin and the eyes, avoid taking this medication. Speak to your doctor if you have liver problems, kidney disease, increased levels of potassium in your blood, problems with your adrenal glands, diabetes, or heart failure. It is important to undergo tests that determine blood pressure, kidney function, and the number of electrolytes. Talk to your doctor if you experience severe diarrhea, and substantial weight loss. After evaluating your condition, your doctor will decide on how to continue your blood pressure medication. As with any other antihypertensive agent, which reduces a rapid fall in blood pressure in patients with blood flow disturbances of the heart or brain, it could lead to severe heart complications such as a heart attack or stroke.
Common side effects of Olvance 40 mg include dizziness, headache, sickness, diarrhea, indigestion, stomachache, infection of the urinary tract, blood in the urine, tiredness, pain in the back, joints, and muscles, bronchitis, sore throat, and flu-like symptoms. Uncommon side effects include quick allergic reactions that may affect the whole body and may cause breathing problems and a significant drop in blood pressure that may lead to even fainting, pain or tightness in the chest, especially during a workout session.
