Lotensyl 10 mg contains the active ingredient Lercanidipine, which belongs to a class of pharmaceutical agents known as calcium channel blockers used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults over the age of 18 years.
Always take Lotensyl exactly as your doctor has told you. The generally prescribed dosage is one tablet a day. The tablets should preferably be swallowed whole with a glass full of water. Special care is needed in patients with liver or kidney problems. Please ask your doctor if you have further questions about this product's use.Â
Do not take Lotensyl if allergic to Lercanidipine or any of the ingredients. You should also avoid this medication if allergic reactions to drugs closely related to Lercanidipine, such as amlodipine, felodipine, nifedipine, isradipine, or lacidipine. The product is not recommended for children under 18 years old. Avoid taking this medicine if you suffer from certain heart diseases such as untreated heart failure, obstruction to blood flow from the heart, unstable angina, or severe liver or kidney disease. The use of certain drugs along with Lercanidipine is contraindicated. These include antifungal drugs, macrolide antibiotics, antiviral drugs, and prevent organ rejection. Do not take this medicine with grapefruit or grapefruit juice. Avoid using this medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.Â
Please tell your doctor if you are taking other medicines, including those without a prescription. Especially medications for high blood pressure, indigestion, heart problems, tuberculosis, epilepsy, and allergies. The patient should not consume alcohol during treatment with Lotensyl tablets since it may increase the effects of Lotensyl. Do not use the product if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Caution should be taken because of the possibility of weakness, dizziness, and tiredness. Avoid driving or using machines until you know how lercanidipine affects you.
Rarely you may experience angina pectoris (chest pain due to lack of blood in your heart), a drop in blood pressure, and allergic reactions (symptoms such as rash, hives, and itching). If you suffer from pre-existing angina pectoris, with the group of medicines to which Lercanidipine belongs, you may experience increased frequency, duration or severity of these attacks. Talk to your doctor if you get any side effects while taking Lotensyl 20 mg. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this medication guide. Â
