Geftinat 250 mg contains Gefitinib, which blocks the epidermal growth factor (EGFR) protein. This protein is responsible for the growth and spreading of cancer cells. It is indicated for treating adults with nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In NSCLC, malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the lung.

Always take medicines exactly as your doctor has instructed. Check with your doctor if you have any doubts about using this medicine. The recommended dose is one 250 mg tablet a day. Make sure you take the tablet at the same time each day. You may take it before or after consuming food. Avoid taking antacids two hours before or one hour after taking the Geftinat tablet. Patients with trouble swallowing the tablet may dissolve it in half a glass of water. Make sure you do not use any other liquids. Do not crush the pill. Swirl the water until the pill has dissolved. This process may take up to twenty minutes. Drink the liquid right away. Once you finish the solution, rinse the glass with half a glass of water and drink it.

Geftinat 250 can lead to severe complications if consumed in some cases. Avoid using this medicine under the following conditions:

   — Geftinat should not be used if the patient is allergic to its ingredients.

   — This medication should not be prescribed to children and adolescents under 18 years of age

   — Please consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you are planning to conceive or you are lactating women

   — Also, speak to your doctor if you have had any lung problems. Some lung conditions may worsen during treatment with Gefitinib. Tell your doctor if you have ever had problems you’re your liver.

Your doctor should also be aware of all other medications you are taking, have recently taken, or might take. In particular, tell your doctor about rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine, barbiturates, itraconazole, herbal remedies, warfarin, or medicines for ulcers,  indigestion, and heartburn. Talk to your doctor before taking this anticancer medication if you are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Doctors usually recommend avoiding pregnancy during treatment with Geftinibbecause the anticancer drug could harm your baby. You may feel weak during the anticancer treatment. If this happens, please avoid driving or indulging in a task that requires your attention.

Common side effects of Geftinat 250 mg are vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea, loss of appetite, weakness, res or sore mouth, hair loss, fever, nail problems, protein in your urine, nose bleed, blood in the urine, ured and sore eyelids. Tell your doctor immediately if you notice any of the above side effects. If you get any side effects, speak to your doctor.
