Farobact 200 mg contains Faropenem, an orally active antibiotic belonging to the penem group. Faopenem kills the bacteria causing serious infections. It effectively treats many types of bacterial infections, such as infections of the lungs and urinary tract. The medicine can treat other infections: respiratory tract, urinary tract, nose, ear, skin, and gynaecological infections. Bacterial infection occurs when harmful bacteria grow inside the body and cause an infection. It can affect any part of the body and multiply very rapidly. The antibiotic drug usually makes you feel better very quickly. Still, you should continue following the treatment as prescribed, even if you feel better, to ensure that all the bacteria are eliminated and do not become resistant.

Farobact is the only medicine in its class that can be taken orally. It may be taken before or after consuming food. The dose and duration of treatment depend on the severity of the infection and how you respond to the drug. If you discontinue treatment too early, the infection may re-occur or worsen.  

Farobact tablets are contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to the drug or the penem class of antibacterial or penicillins or cephalosporins and related beta-lactams or in patients who have a previously anaphylactic reaction to beta-lactams. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please tell your doctor before taking Faropenem 200 mg. If you have renal problems, a family history of atopy, Lapp lactase deficiency, glucose-galactose malabsorption, or galactose intolerance, inform your doctor before taking Farobact tablets. Antibiotic medicine may cause vitamin K or vitamin B deficiency, especially in older people and patients with poor oral intake. However, talk to your doctor if you notice symptoms such as loss of appetite,  stomatitis, swelling of the tongue, and bleeding easily. Regular monitoring of kidney and liver functioning is recommended while taking Farobact 200mg. Contact your doctor immediately if you notice blood in your stools or have severe stomach pain and diarrhoea.

Most side effects do not require medical attention and resolve as your body adjusts to this antibiotic drug. Talk to your doctor if they persist or if you are concerned about them. Commonly reported ones to include nausea, rash, diarrhoea, and abdominal pain.
