Duvadilan retards 40 mg capsules are used to improve blood circulation in the blood vessels. It contains the active ingredient Isoxsuprine, a beta-adrenergic that directly affects the smooth muscle and results in vascular dilation (widening of the blood vessels). This effect improves the blood flow in the hands, feet, or brain.

Duvadilan retard capsules are primarily used to treat peripheral vascular diseases such as Raynaud’s disease, arteriosclerosis, obliterans, or cerebrovascular deficiency. It is also used to treat premature labor (when the uterus begins to contract for delivery of a baby too early than usual).   

It is advised to take Duvadilan capsules in the correct doses and exact duration as advised by the doctor. The dosage prescribed by the doctor varies from person to person. The dosage will be determined by examining your condition, previous medical history, height, weight, and gender. For use as a vasodilator, Duvadilan retards capsules are generally taken orally in doses of 10 to 20 mg 2 to 4 times daily.

Before using Duvadilan, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding and about your detailed medical history, including the medical condition and medicines you are already taking. The safety and efficacy of this drug in paediatric patients have not been established.

The treatment should not be stopped abruptly without consulting the doctor, as it may lead to unwanted effects. Also, it may not be suitable for some people. Inform your doctor before starting the medication if you have any bleeding disorders or heart problems. Isoxsuprine may cause sudden falls in blood pressure, so if you are driving or operating a motor vehicle or doing any hazardous activities, please avoid it. Do not stand suddenly from a lying position, as your vasodilator drug may make you feel dizzy. Consumption of alcohol with Duvadilan retards can cause dizziness, so one should avoid consuming alcohol during the treatment.  

Possible side effects from using Duvadilan retards capsules include nausea, dizziness, upset stomach, and nervousness. Severe reactions that may require medical attention include skin rash, swelling, difficulty breathing, chest pain, and rapid or irregular heartbeat. As preventive measures, consult your doctor:

      —If you are allergic to Isoxsuprine or other ingredients present in the   medicine

      —Using any over-the-counter products, vitamins, herbal or dietary supplements

      —Bleeding disorders

      —Allergic to foods or other substances

      —History of glaucoma or heart disorders
