Cystopen 100 mg is prescribed to relieve pain and bladder discomfort (interstitial cystitis). The capsule contains Pentosan polysulfate sodium, which helps prevent the irritation and swelling of bladder walls. Cystopen 100 mg is very effective in minimizing the irritation and inflammation of the bladder. Sometimes physicians also prescribe this medicine to patients who suffer from a clotting disorder.

Always consult your physician before taking this medication for health, safety and best results. Inform him if you have or had a condition of stomach ulcer, intestinal polyps, clotting disorder, history of stroke etc.

The dosage of Cystopen varies according to weight, age, medical history and current health status of the patient. Cystopen is supplied as a capsule; remember not to break or open it and take it on an empty stomach with normal water. Also, try not to miss the dose; if you forget, take it as soon as you recall, but if it is time to take the next dose, do take your regular dose and skip the one you forget. Do not take a double dose at the same time to compensate for the missed dose.

Some medicine like urokinase, caffeine, aspirin, oxycodone, acetaminophen and fondaparinux can interact with Pentosan sulphate. So mention all current medication you are taking to your doctor.

    — Pregnant and breastfeeding ladies are advised not to take this medicine. Or consult your physician before taking this medicine

    — Skip or avoid driving and handling heavy machinery while taking these capsules

    — Mention your previous medical history to your physician before starting the treatment with Cystopen

    — Try to avoid taking other drugs while taking pentosan capsules

    — Some patients may experience bruising signs while taking this medicine

    — Check the expiry date before consuming this or any medicine

The common side effects of Cystopen are :

    — Headache, sores in the mouth, upset stomach, and diarrhea.

Some serious side effects of Cystopen are:

    — Mood swings, irregular heartbeat, breathing trouble, bleeding in gums, unusual tiredness.
