Soranib 200 mg is a prescription medicine used to treat certain types of cancer. It is used for the treatment of:
- Unresectable liver cancer
- Advanced kidney cancer
- Locally recurrent or metastatic, progressive, differentiated thyroid cancer
The medicine contains the active ingredient Sorafenib, which belongs to the class of drugs known as tyrosine kinase inhibitors that work by slowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells; for best results, use it under the supervision of a doctor.
Take Soranib 200 mg exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The usual dose is two tablets taken two times a day. Your doctor may change your dose during the treatment or discontinue treatment if you have side effects. Swallow the tablets with enough water. Take the tablet without food an hour before or two hours after a meal. Do not take this Sorafenib with high-fat meals as they make this anti-cancer medication less effective. If you have diabetes, your doctor will monitor your blood glucose levels regularly and assess if your anti-diabetic medicine needs to be adjusted to minimize the risk of hypoglycaemia.
Soranib 200 mg can cause serious side effects, including bleeding problems, decreased blood flow to the heart, perforation of the bowel, high blood pressure, wound healing problems, a skin problem called hand-foot skin reaction, congenital disabilities or death of an unborn baby. Get immediate medical help straight away if you develop any of these conditions. Other side effects of the medicine include diarrhoea, weakness, abdominal pain, weight loss, loss of appetite, mouth sores, nausea, vomiting, hair thinning, diarrhoea, tiredness, numbness, etc., tingling of pain.
